I would like to acupuncture. As someone who has suffered from LS for more than 20years it has made a tremendous difference for me. The acupuncturist is and Integrative Health Physician and there also an MD. I had a treatment six weeks ago and it is still effective. Please consider adding acupuncture to the helpful tools in combating this ailment. Thank you for all the great information

We had a session on acupuncture at one of our Wholistic Healing Summits. We have to use all the tools available to us.

@@lichensclerosussupportnetwork glad to know that others may be considering acupuncture. While acupuncture doesn’t heal it the LS in my body is barely noticeable. It is easier to apply gently of course my halobetasol and I use Julva in between. After more than 20 years of LS I finally feel normal even if it isn’t in remission. Hope this helps others.

Hi, I just want to thank you for this video. I’m going through a flare up at the moment. Not fun but, I’m using my ointment and emollient for washing. Soap drives me nut just now. So hopefully all will be back on track again soon. You’re videos were the first I came across when I was diagnosed and they were so helpful. Thanks again.

I have psoriasis in addition to l.s. My dr wanted the clobetasal only in the central area and prescribed a cortisone/antifungal for other irritated issues.

A homeopathic product called Emuaid has been really helpful, as well as putting castor oil on a feminine pad and wearing it.

Would you do a video on central sensitization, please? I’ve not heard this term relative to the pelvic floor, but I believe I may have this. My LS is well controlled and I’ve been on vaginal estrogen for 3 yrs for post-menopausal GSM. But my nerves down there often go nuts with the slightest pressure like from gently applying an emollient. I rarely ever feel normal because I constantly have this awful tingling, creepy crawly kind of nerve sensation going on.

We have a video with a pelvic floor physical therapist discussing persistent pelvic nerve pain. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaexgXx8d6mdopY We also had a session on it at our recent Virtual Mini Summit on Vulvovaginal Conditions. If you didn't get a ticket, you can purchase the replays on our website at lssupportnetwork.org/product/mini-summit-replays/ Hope this helps.

I have been on the anti depressant called Mirtazapine (which is generic for Remeron) 15 mg 1X/day. Have been on this for about 20 years. Each time I start with a new GP or PCP, they are dubious saying they aren’t familiar. But they look at my records and see that oh yes…So, one of my family care doctors told me that this ad doesn’t rely on needing exact serum levels every time and that I could cut them in half whenever. (?) which was good for me. Anyway, this one really helps me when I have “blue” days.

What would you consider low dose amitriptyline to be? 25 mg? 10 mg?
@lichensclerosussupportnetwork Жыл бұрын
Both of those are considered low-dose. I started on 25mg and stayed there until I weaned off, but everyone reacts differently to medication. If you're nervous or know you are sensitive to medication, you can ask for 10mg to start and slowly build up to 25mg if there is a need (and there may not be). With love, Jaclyn

Hi, thanks for the info. I am 33 years old and just diagnosed. Im devastated and eager to slow the progression. I will be starting topical steriods soon. May you tell me if it would be a good idea to moisturize after applying the steroid or should i let the steriod sit alone? Any help is appreciated.
@peggy341411 ай бұрын
I finally found a LS specialist. She said to use moisturizer (suggested a dab of Spectrum Palm oil) first, then apply the steroid. The moisturizer helps soften the tissues so that they absorb the steroid better. I keep a small jar of the palm oil in my bathroom and apply it after using the bathroom. A small dab goes a long way. The combination made a big difference in healing my tissues. Good luck!

@peggy3414 Thank you so much. The flare-up I have right now is so bad and feels like it's never going away. I'm desperate for any tips. I was told I can mix the steriod with aquaphor. My area is completely raw at the moment. I will definitely get some palm oil.
@Etika-le1ug11 ай бұрын
@peggy3414 is spectrum the brand, or will any organic palm oil be good?
@peggy341411 ай бұрын
any brand will work. the LS specialist said you could use coconut oil (the solid type) too
@peggy341411 ай бұрын
I'm so sorry hear about the pain. My bottom had been red and raw too and I remember the pain all too well. The palm oil is thick like Crisco shortening. Take a little dab and massage over all the tender areas. Use an ice pack for 10 to 15 minutes to help reduce the pain too. I had LS for 20 years before a new gyn took one look and gave the diagnosis. Other drs just said, "I don't know." Hang in there. Also, don't use soap on your genital area. Dr recommended Cetaphil Extra Gentle Cleanser. Made all the difference. You will get better. Peggy

What are your thoughts on CBD/THC salves?
@lichensclerosussupportnetwork10 ай бұрын
In the specific context of managing/reducing itch, I don't know, I've never used them for those purposes. Some folks like THC/CBD lubes or topical moisturizers, but everyone is different on this one, so if it works for you, I don't think there's a reason not to unless your healthcare provider has specifically advised against it.
