Your comment about whistling really helped me. I have a beginning trombone student who is really struggling to play even our first 5 notes and I couldnt figure out how else to explain what she needs to do. Thank you!

Don’t listen to the haters, what you need is even MORE background music volume. It really helps me focus and listen in on what you’re saying. 👍

I really like the simplicity of the concepts and practice methods! Easy to understand and digest for young tuba players.

Yes, I agree 100%. The background noise and music really makes it a struggle to understand what you’re saying. If you really think it needs to be there then there needs to be a balance. It doesn’t need to overpower your voice. Thanks for the video though. I know it will help a lot. I do hear a lot of tubas out there with very poor sound.

As a fully self taught (until last year) low brass musician, any tips and tricks to help in my playing help a ton.

I would recommend pausing or muting background music when you are demonstrating on the horn

Thanks for the help! As a reed player going to tuba it’s really tough, I’m tryna do everything I can to march DCI and this video gave me a bunch of more concepts to think about thank you a lot 🙌

Love the video. Tip 2 was my favorite. Amazing what a difference proper embouchure makes.

Tip #3 is my favorite. I have always been told to just open my teeth, but never shown how to do it properly. Tip #8 I always thought, if I want a high range then I need to struggle on the way up.

Great video - I'm a former horn player trying tp play the tuba now and the embouchure is a challenge! Something to consider - I have ADHD and find the music in the back ground while you are talking really difficult to tune out so I can focus on your words. Maybe just use it in the intro and the ending... thanks for making this :)

Yeah that’s definitely a take away for future videos! I noticed a trend of more people doing the background music and all thought and I didn’t realize for a lot of people it actually does more harm than good! Noted and thanks for checking it out and commenting! 😃

Hello, thank you for these amazing tips, I just started playing tuba a few months ago, I swapped from the baritone, but I can barely actually make sound but that will not stop me from practicing my hardest to improve.

Can you maybe do something about the background music, this seems like a good video but the music is too distracting to get the information

Any tips on how to get low notes in tune?Like down to the second f below the staff or around there.Because I can’t seem to play low notes as well as I play my mid to high range notes.
@sabbiosaurus1019 ай бұрын
Great video.. My personal range on tuba (and this is after a year away from playing) is from pedal Bb to about F (one lines above the staff I think) However I struggle to get anything above that note, though to be realistic, I don't see myself ever needing to get about that super high F note anyways, but knowing how to is beneficial. Any tips?

In most tuba repertoire there can be some higher parts for more pro players so you should get as comfortable as you can playing above the staff cause one day you might have to do that
