Two last tips: 1) snap a screenshot of all your entry tickets. They ask you at least three times to view them as you move around the property. 2) The winery offers complimentary tastings but you need to reserve a time slot. I actually think that buying a bottle at the estate home market and lounge around in the garden to enjoy the beauty there as a break from the crowds.

If possible, treat yourself to a Christmas season nighttime tour. We were fortunate that it was lightly snowing when we went, which added to the event. You're greeted at the door as if you were personal guests of the Vanderbilt family. Once inside, the holiday decorations are over-the-top beautiful! As you wait to tour, live musicians perform in the conservatory. Roaring fireplaces greet you in many rooms and the Christmas trees in the banquet hall are incredible. Definitely a memorable experience!

Thank you for this! I used to hang out at the Biltmore when I was a kid 60 years ago - every time we went to visit my grandparents in Asheville. In fact, for a time, my cousin's husband was the chief park ranger there and we could get passes for free. I have not been there in probably 30 years - boy has it changed and grown! I also hope to see the estate again at Christmas - there is nothing like it! Very good tips - when I get back there again I will keep these things in mind!

We were there a few years ago. I am handi-capped and use a mobility cart, well I couldn't see the gardens as there are steps on the path ways, no ramps. In side the house I was allowed to use the elevator up to the second floor. Overall we loved the experience of going around inside with the beautiful orchid displays. Near the grounds around the hotel/ Winery area, we found an ice cream store. Belive me. the lemon sherbet was very very tart and pricy. Pucker up tart.

Thanks for including a tip regarding dogs. We travel with ours and scour the web for relevant information before our trips. I have also learned that as you mentioned the trolley is available for lot C, but does not allow for dogs and walking the road from lot C is not advised so dog owners are strongly suggested to find parking in lots A and B but I have not heard if the parking is first come first serve however. Anyone have info regarding the parking?
@christyevershappily4eversafter Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’m glad you found the dog info helpful. The parking is first come, first serve, but there is ample parking and the non shuttle lots are very close walking distance to the house grounds. Also, be sure to go downtown and visit the dog Welcome Center. They’ll give you dog friendly info about the city and a goodie bag too! www.dogdoorcanineservices.com/dog-city-usa/

Me and my wife are going to be in NC this summer. We could make it but would only get about 2 hours. Is it even worth it at that point? We would barely have time to do the house tour
@christyevershappily4eversafter Жыл бұрын
They do have a Gardens and Grounds admission price so you can enjoy the property without having to take a house tour. With only 2 hours you wouldn't get to see much. It's subjective if it would be worth the price to you. This summer they will have the Renaissance Alive Art Immersion exhbit, there are many people that pay to enter the grounds just for that or a wine tasting or a carriage ride, etc. I suggest taking a look at all there is to see and do and look at the Gardens and grounds admission price and see if there's something that would make it worth it to you. You can get a birds eye view of the property and if you are inspired you can make a trip back to see the house and other things another time. I do have a video that gives tips on planning a trip to Biltmore. While this one uses a 2 day trip as an example, it does give you a good over view of all there is to do. With only 2 hours you could only pick one thing, but this video may help you find that 'one thing" that would make it worth it to you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5LUe2Sdl8Zgfs0

I am planning to visit in June or July this year. Is it a good time to visit the house? Also, you only need to reserve a time slot for going inside the house?
@christyevershappily4eversafter Жыл бұрын
For many people, June and July is fine for visiting the house, however, you'll want to keep in mind that there are many steps to climb and the air conditioning will not be as great as in modern buildings. I can get warm, so if you or anyone in your party is sensitive to heat or may have complications from heat, it may not be the best time. If i were to tour the house in June or July I would choose a time as early as possible before the heat of the day sets in. Since summer is a popular time, I highly recommend choosing the restaurants where you'd like to dine and if reservations are available, go ahead and reserve a table time in advance. Any additional paid activities such as carriage rides, art immersion experience, tours, wine tasting, etc. will require advanced reservations. I do have a Biltmore Travel Planner that can help you plan your time. bit.ly/BiltmoreTravelPlan

@carlachirigos15763 жыл бұрын
We are visiting at the end of March and I plan on taking my 35 mm camera and lenses to take photos of the grounds and gardens. No clear bag for carrying and protecting my thousands in camera gear. Will I need to check them in before doing the house tour? Early morning and 2 hours before sunset are best for taking outdoor pictures. Do you know what time the grounds actually open? Thanks for the great tips.
@christyevershappily4eversafter3 жыл бұрын
That time of year the admissions gate typically opens around 8:30 and the Estate grounds around 9:00. If your bag is larger than 19″ x 14″ x 9″ you’ll have to leave it in your vehicle or ask about storage options at customer service. They are located next to where the trolley drops off from the parking lot. Backpacks are not allowed on any guided tours, including Rooftop, Backstairs, Exclusive, and Expert-Guided tours. Guests are required to leave backpacks in a locker or in their vehicle. The sun typically sets around 6:30 in March, so the estate grounds may be closed for sunset pics. If youre into sunset pics I suggest finding the Lagoon, where you can get a unique and spectacular view of the house from a distance and some great sunset views too. I have more info on the lagoon in my most recent video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWHdoHucfayhoZY I hope that helps. Have a blast! 😊

Thank you 😊 You can choose the lot you go to. In slower seasons they’ll only keep one lot open, but the trolly is always running. They always have a guy guiding traffic at the lots and you can ask them where to go if you are unsure. They are very helpful. Your 4 year old will love the trolley! 😃
Can you recommend a hotel near the entrance to Biltmore that is nice but won't break the bank? Preferably something with character but that's not a deal breaker. Thanks!

The further out from Biltmore's gate and downtown, the less expensive it will be. What breaks the bank is different for different people, so I'll make a few suggestions. The absolute closest that you can get to Biltmore without being on the estate, is the Grand Bohimian. It's a Marriott signature hotel, and it's directly across the street from the Biltmore entrance and has a ton of character. The only problem is it's not going to be on the lesser expensive side. But it does hit the, close & character points. I mostly stay either in downtown or Biltmore village, so I don't know many hotels personally outside of those area's. But I can tell you some of the area's to check that aren't too far but you can find a variety of different hotels are off of Tunnel Road on the other side of downtown. You may find some reasonably priced places to stay off of Hendersonville Rd near Biltmore Village. I hope that helps! Enjoy your visit!

Thank you for this helpful video! We booked tickets for next weekend to visit for our anniversary. There was one spot left for 11:45am and one spot for 12pm, do you think they’ll let my husband and I in together even though we’re booked 15 minutes apart?

Happy anniversary!!! I would be shocked if you had any issues with entering at the same time. In my experience they are very gracious with the entry time. Ive never known them to be strict with times. Have fun! If you can, grab a drink and stick around for the sunset on the side courtyard. It’s spectacular!

Thank you so much!! That helps a lot to know that. We can’t wait! Thanks for the great tips!!

I’m taking Uber from my hotel to the Biltmore estate. Please let me know how close can the Uber take us. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
@christyevershappily4eversafter2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never personally taken an Uber to Biltmore, but my understanding is that they have permissions to take you all the way up to the house to drop you off. You may want to also purchase their grounds transportation for the day so you can go to antler hill village to look around there and enjoy those restaurants too.

Reading the comments on Google says to watch the tours on the internet and spend the money on a very nice dinner
@christyevershappily4eversafter3 жыл бұрын
Every google reviewer is certainly entitled to their own opinions. Preferences are so subjective. It's ideal to do both, take a tour and have a great meal on the estate, and I could see how a travel foodie would opt to choose a dining experience over a house tour if they had to watch their budget . . . however, those, like me would be much happier taking a tour instead. You can get a great meal anywhere in any city, but there is only one place to see the inside of the Biltmore Estates home and I've never seen a video do it justice. Those who are history buffs and love the feel of being immersed in a historical setting would be much better off taking a tour. There isn't one option over-all better. Each person needs to take a look at their own likes and preferences and make their choice upon their own preferences, not someone else's likes and dislikes. I'm all for google reviews, but they do have to be taken with a grain of salt and you have to ultimately make the best choice for you and the party you're traveling with.

Great video! I bought tickets for one day, but I’m thinking we need to go on a different day since you said to not rush the experience. Do you know if they will honor it within the same weekend? I got reserved the house tour with audio for a Saturday, but I’m thinking we should go on a Sunday! Thank you!

Thank you! I’m so happy it was helpful. You’re in luck with your second day. You can Enjoy a second, consecutive day on the estate for only $25 for access to Biltmore’s gardens, grounds, and Antler Hill Village. Upgrade on the day of your visit at any of the Guest Services locations on the estate. Biltmore House admission not included. This link will tell you more. 😁 enjoy your trip! Use your first day for the house and the 2nd day to explore the grounds or restaurants and things that you didn’t get to on the first day. There is also an opportunity for 2nd day tour discounts if you decide you’d like to learn more and take a tour or outdoor activity. www.biltmore.com/visit/tickets-pricing/special-offers/

Here are a few more.. 1. If you want to attend the Biltmore by candle light, but can't get tickets or do not want to shell out the extra price. Pick one of the last daytime tickets. The lights are beautiful by then as it is already getting dark. 2. Explore the Biltmore Village. It is located just outside the entrance of the home. This was once a village George had built for his workers. Two original buildings remain. The church, which is the church of the Vanderbilt family and one building that is now the Corner Kitchen. Amazing food. There is a McDonald's just outside the entrance that the Travel Channel dubbed..the world's swankiest McDonald's. If George owned a mickey Ds..it would look like this. 3. Take time to enjoy the often overlooked Smith McDowell house which is located 10 minutes away. It is a beautiful masion and the oldest home in Ashville. They were friends of the Vanderbilt family. 4. Enjoy Ashville. Ashville itself is am amazing city. The largest collection of art deco buildings outside of Miami. Incredible food. All kinds of entertainment. Shop at the historical Grove Arcade. And at Christmas checkout the historical Grove Park Inn..home to the National Gingerbread championships. 5. If you bring your furry one..there are kennels on the property. 6. If your traveling in the summer..check out their events as they hold concerts during the summer. 7. If you live close by or visit the area often..invest in a season pass. Follow them.on social media for when they go on sale. I got mine last spring for $119. Worth it as the tickets at Christmas were $120.

Do you know where you get locks for the dog kennels ?
@sburris65 Жыл бұрын
@sherrygonzales5437 I'm not sure if they provide them or not. I've never taken my dog except to the gardens
