Just came back from my first trip to Asheville. I say first because I know that I must go back. Probably one of my most favorite cities, I've ever been to. Completely in love with the DT and it is probably the MOST WALKABLE city I've visited thus far. DT is lively with a great mix of locals and tourists and mixes of people, but everyone is so friendly and such a great vibe. Loved the street art, sculptures and talented street musicians. Blue Ridge Mountains are stunning. So much to see and do in the area. I personally didn't find it expensive, but I live on Long Island, NY so I'm used to everything being expensive! Can't recommend a trip there more!! Thanks.

Asheville used to be nice but it's now a concrete jungle. Horrendous traffic. Horrible pollution. Overpriced to politically charged. Limited parking. Crime twice the national average. A ton of homeless drug addicts that flock there because it's a liberal town. Over 1800 acres of trees cut. down in 10 years for endless hotels and apartments.

Asheville Police have communicated that due to understaffed, they do not respond to certain types of calls. Crime is UP! Homeless population is increasing. Cost of living is highest in NC. Asheville was the second city in nation to give reparations. Asheville is FAR LEFT politically!!! A better place to visit is Waynesville, which is 25 miles west on I-40.

Accurate depiction of the city, especially pertaining to the food, beer, hospitality, art and quirkiness the town offers. You are correct as to the cost downtown being a bit expensive for most, restaurants have gotten more expensive as well as hotel stays downtown. Unfortunately because of high rent many local service works have had to move out of downtown and commute which has contributed to a shortage in staff. Parking downtown is also in high demand, especially if there's a venue gong on,,,there is NO free parking. Also, very liberal mined youth with the "entitled" mentally also contribute to a low percentage of workers. Lots of young kids skating and board surfing instead of being employed, its all they do all day. Don't get me wrong, its a very nice city, but please make sure that you also include the huge amount of homeless people with drug, alcohol and mental problems. Again, large population of youth living on the streets with addiction and mental problems begging money from tourist for their addictions. Asheville's communities are very giving and they do feed and offers many services even overnight stays when the weather gets too cold ( called Code Purple) but many prefer living on the streets. One example Plichard park. You really need one or maybe two days downtown. Christy, you hit the nail on the head as to the surrounding beauty. Hiking, white water rafting, and all the scenic wonders the mountains and trails offer.

Asheville has amazing shops and art but you forgot to mention that there are no jobs. The rumors of witch residents are not to be taken lightly. Downtown needs a face lift badly. The housing prices are extremely high and wages do not match. It is a beautiful city to visit unless you have been born with money it's very hard to live there. If you want to travel to work and live in Asheville that might work.

This is a video for tourists not residents. Jobs and price of housing don’t fit in tourist videos. As a tourist I expect city’s to need face lifts and cost of living to be high which makes me happy to spend my tourist dollars there to help stimulate the economy in a city that I adore. I’m a travel agent speaking to tourists not a real estate agent speaking to residential prospects.

I live in the raleigh area. While yes, Raleigh and Durham are 2 separate cities but locals, like me who have lived here for over 20 years, do refer to it as the raleigh/Durham area. They are so close and interconnected, especially with the smaller cities it’s not unusual to hear locals refer to them with the names closely together.

@@dmccalldds as a local I can say that it’s truly ok to refer to the over all raleigh/Durham area as simply, Raleigh /Durham when you are speaking about a general area. I never claim that it’s one city, but the area is so compact and integrated it’s completely fine to reference them as a general area in the state. Also I’m the travel agent community it is also normal to refer to locations by their art port name. So there is nothing that I said that is wrong. You’re simply stuck in a trite narrative of your preference to only reference one city at a time.

It’s a city. Crime and other problems are inherent to city life. I visit often and my favorite place to stay is downtown. I go by myself and sometimes bring my daughter. While I practice safety precautions no mater where I go I’ve never, personally felt unsafe when I was there. So yes, it’s a city and my viewers are aware that crime happens in cities and they should take precautions as with in any other city. Me telling me that there’s crime in a city is like having to mention to people going to the beach that there are sharks in the ocean. It’s just a fact of life. It also doesn’t mean people shouldn’t still enjoy the city even though it’s not perfect. If anyone wants to travel to a perfect place then… they would never travel. There’s still amazing restaurants, still amazing shops and still some of the most friendly people I’ve ever met. Honestly, when it comes to Asheville, the nicest people I’ve met have been in the city.

Lol, cute saying. Unfortunately that seems to be most cities these days. One reason I love to promote great cities and businesses and spend my tourist dollars there is because It’s my part of helping businesses stay open, which allows people to stay employed. Every city has their problems, and I’d we all do our part in a positive a huge shift could take place. 🤗 When the pandemic hit I changed my travel focus of my channel to local travel in my my home state and surrounding areas to support the local economy.
