Ciao Spicy! I saw you first on Gardeners’ World, then heard a shout-out to you on Epic Gardening. I lived in Italy years ago, and remember the quality of the produce, also the respect for seasonality. Here, in the States, I lived in a very tight, urban Italian immigrant neighborhood in Boston. Not one inch of space was ever wasted. My neighbors rotated crops in pots on asphalt pavement. They knew how to maximize space. Everything was crammed with growth. One neighbor even made wine! That family also jarred their own sugo in oil drums of water over wood fires. Every spring Franco Cataldo would “borrow” the neighbors’ rubbish bins to collect chicken waste from a farm in the country. My shy husband would peek through the curtains to see what Franco was doing next, “Franco’s mulching his tomatoes. I better get going.” Wonderful channel. I love your accent. Grazie!

I so enjoy your work and your teaching. I grew up on a farm. If it were not for our garden, we would’ve starved many times. I know make my own sauerkraut I make some of my own vegetables. I grow my onions. But I am disappointed in that I cannot get my onions to grow very well. I am going to try vertical gardening to see if I cannot get more space in sunlight. Thank you for your wonderful help!

Hi Alessandro - thank you for this video. Very educational! Is there a book (or video series) you'd recommend for beginners to understand more about soil, plants, nutrients, seasons, diseases etc. I'm curious how someone like me could go from zero knowledge about planting to some knowledge, while taking a methodic approach, rather than piecing this knowledge together from various videos. Thanks!

The last thing you said was “ if you have a question leave it in the comments”. Will you please send me your autograph? My finance and I are big big fans . We binge watch as often as possible. It’s our time together. We dream up gardens. We manifest more space to grow. When we met, he said “ grow what we need, make what we want.” And here we are. I would love to hand a piece of paper to him and be like “ babe, the spicy mustache signed this for you “. Dude you’re such an inspiration. This is such a significant set of skills. We do need to revive our connection. Thank you for what you do. I hope you find this. I hope you know your impact. ❤
