You’re spot on about Roy Clark. The humor he brought to his performances was outstanding! Ok, a couple of my suggestions… Scotti Hill of Skid Row, Andy Taylor, John Spinks of The Outfield and Tommy Shaw. Tommy’s vocals often overshadow his guitar skills but the man can flat out play!

@@csnide6702Johnny frequently played at Cincinnati’s Ludlow Garage in the late 1960’s. For some reason, Johnny and Joe Walsh (with the James Gang at the time) used to criticize the other’s playing when they were in town. SW Florida, but around 1995-ish they came to my hometown, all of Skynyrd, Leon, Billy, Gary, Johnny came down to meet up with local resident Ricky Medlocke to record tracks for a new record. They stayed about 2 months and were super nice. They gave me VIP tickets to their show in West Palm and treated me like an old friend for a while. Ricky had been a regular for a very long time and is a great guy. He is still around and performs as Blackfoot with my friend John playing bass. I live in Lee County and it's a very, very well kept secret how many musicians live there just being regular people. Many years later I owned a concert venue and booked their cousin Jimmy Van Zandt with his band. Next thing I know night of the show, Gary was on the phone yakking it up with me like we had just seen each other the other day. It had been 15 years, and Jimmy had mentioned my name to him off-hand and he still remembered me. That's just who these guys are. @joehansonguitar

@@joehansonguitar Maybe to the younger audience they are. Its understandable that they have their own heroes growing up. I grew up listening to music that was not typical for a teenager in the 90s ..Rock music from the sixties, seventies and eighties.. also blues and jazz and other stuff. Didnt care for grunge, techno or that kind if stuff. So naturally I know these guys... I believe that Kids of today who play the guitar will run into the players on this list maybe closer to adulthood or as adults...At least I hope so. Todays music with autotune as a standard really sucks...And autotuning older stuff that they are doing these days is really terrible. Changing history as they do it..I just cant stand that...But thats a topic for another day.

First album I ever bought with my own money as a kid was Ozzy’s Speak Of The Devil in 1982. I had no idea Randy Rhoads had even died … this was before the days of social media and wiki , etc. So I went to the record store , bought it and was wondering why Randy wasn’t on the back cover. The guy at the record store then told me what happened in March of that year and the plane crash that took Randy and I was devastated . Bummed out , I went home and put on the album …. well Brad’s playing completely floored me and to this day I still prefer some of the Speak Of The Devil versions to the Sabbath originals. His tone was simply monstrous for 1982.

Nice one, again...personally I always think it's somewhat criminal that Gary Moore always gets a mention but Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham always get lost in his shadow. "Live and Dangerous" is still one of the best live albums of all time and proof, if it were ever needed of what talents these guys are. Also, while I'm thinking about it, Martin Barre (Jethro Tull) never gets the respect he deserves, and also Rickey Medlocke...Oh yeah, and Ty Tabor and Brian Tatler😂

I've seen Johnny Winter at least 15 times over 50 some years, from April 1972 thru February 15th 2013. I've gotten his autograph 3 times, twice on ticket stubs, but the last one in 2013 was the best. He held a 'meet and greet' at a record store near my house. For most of the other autograph seekers before me he would keep his head down and sign the promotional card that we were all given and move on to the next one as he had probably done a thousands of times over the years. He was nearly blind by that time and pretty much had to keep his head down, even if he did look up, you couldn't see his face through that old straw cowboy hat he was wearing. When it became my turn in line, I laid my ratty old, torn and tattered, nearly 50 year old concert tee on the table in front of him and asked if he would sign it for me. He looked up at me, at least high enough for me to see the smile on his face. I think he knew I was a life long fan. He sighed it with a silver magic marker and handed it back to me. I put my hand out and we shook hands, and all I could think to say was "Thanks". That's the one time I wished I was the last in line.
