10 Underrated PS1 Games That Deserve More Love.

Nice vid man! The PS1 is my N1 console of all-time too! Also, I totally agree with you on Twisted Metal III. It was my first TM game back in the day and while I've gone back and played the first two, I still appreciate it. It's not perfect by any means but I think it's way too hated for how enjoyable it is. Aside from the endings being crap, the game is a ton of fun! Soul Blade is amazing! It would be my favorite fighting game that generation if it weren't for Tekken 3! Still really good though. Both Dino Crisis games on the PS1 are excellent in my view. It's funny to think that DC2 was a glimpse into what Capcom would do with the RE series with RE4 and RE5 pretty much forgetting horror just to focus on the action. Parasite Eve 2! You took the words out of my mouth, it's super underrated and underappreciated. I know the first game is the one that's popular but I'll always take PE2. I like the RE-influence it had plus the fights and the monsters are just superb.

My brother had a couple of friends that loved various types of RPG (sort of how I got into being a huge FF fan) and Vandal Hearts was one I was introduced around that time and absolutely loved, each playthrough is a whole new challenge with the different class upgrades to choose from and mix and match. In terms of some games discovered from demo discs and how much they're not really talked about, 2 fighting games come to mind - Rival Schools (another Capcom 3D game, with a pretty cool storyline and fighting between pairs) and Bloody Roar (a cool combination of fighting between human and different beast/animal forms depending on which character you choose). Puzzle games were a favourite from the early days, one that stood out as a massive challenge (still holds up as a challenge today) was Kurushi (or Intelligent Qube). Overboard! was a fun adventure game taking charge of a pirate ship that was maybe overlooked too quickly to become a favourite for many gamers, and while most people stood up and took notice of Legacy of Kain when Soul Reaver was released, the original Blood Omen was an amazing example of a PS1 RPG game more in the style of classic Zelda. Apologies for going on like that, a few good memories too many. Keep up the amazing work :)

These are great games overall it's crazy how expensive some of these are nowadays honorable mention omega boost also fear effect was also another underrated game in my opinion, tomba, and battle arena toshinden had a great soundtrack fun game for being one of the first 3d fighters

Rival Schools is one of my all time favorites on the PS1. I would love to see even just an upscaled re-release for modern hardware.

Urban Chaos on PS1 is a game I love that doen't get talked about much. Legend of Kartia is possibly the best tactical RPG on PS1 along with eternal eyes and both of them don't get talked about much. Eternal Eyes has a great opening song.

I like a lot of the games you picked. I always thought Tenchu Stealth Assassins was under appreciated and another not on the list but you did mention is Xenogears, it has a cult following now but I can’t remember anyone ever talking about it when it was new and my buddy and I loved that game.

A great list. Some of my favorites on there. Ten pin Alley was surprisingly addictive. I played a lot of fighting games back then so bushido blade was confusing at first. I didn't know what the game wanted to me but it was unique when you got used to it. Dino crisis was addictive during Jurassic park fandom days. I could go on with your list. People put down my driver 3 game. I mean I understand why considering GTA was making a superior sandbox free room game, but I spent so much time making replays i felt i got my moneys worth.

@@RetroMediaRoom I did find it pretty addictive. I was amazed with the replay function on the first game. When I had the third game I put together an elaborate set up to capture video from it and made a cut together movie of the game on a VHS tape. I actually planned out the replay and drove the action sequence over and over until I was satisfied I had the best chase scene. Took me way longer than I thought. I wish I could find the tape today.

Usually a reason why games are “forgotten”. They just weren’t good. That being said, I also had 10 pin alley and my brother and I competed many times. Pretty fun game and well put together.

As I explained, these are not the games people talk about within their own genre or series over the course of time I've noticed, at least in my experience. How often do you hear people going on about Soul Blade over Soul Caliber, or Legend of Legia over other more popular RPGs? Not very often. As for Twisted Metal 3, it was panned by critics and not talked about nearly as much as 2 or Black, but I've always felt it deserved more love than it tends to get.

I have it, I started on the newer one on Xbox 360 and went back and picked up the PS1 game, tried playing it a bit but haven't been able to get into it yet, I need to give it another try.

@@RetroMediaRoom it's a very hard game to learn id read a strategy guide or a walkthrough.. the game loads and saves extremely slowly.. id recommend emulation
