In life, it’s nice to be rewarded for doing difficult things. Work your socks off towards a PhD? Here’s your Doctorate. Smash that sales quota? Have a bonus! Remember to take the bins out on time? Go on, have a biscuit and a nice cuppa. The same is true in video games. When we do something tough, we expect games to acknowledge it, and give us something cool in return. But sometimes things don’t work out that way,and there are occasions where games give us nothing for our efforts. Sometimes, however, they give us worse than nothing. Today we’re taking a look at those unlockables that just maybe weren’t worth the effort. We’re not saying all of the unlockables in this list can’t be fun in their own little ways, just that the time players need to invest to get them far outweighs the value of the compensation for doing so. In Dysmantle the most powerful melee weapon unlocks after completing the game, and while you can continue to play after that, there is pretty much nothing to do.

Much better done in TOTK, little easy puzzles that can be skipped if you want. In BOTW I groaned sometimes when I saw another one. In TOTK< I often thought, sure why not, before getting sidetracked by another interesting surprise. 100 odd hours in and it’s still surprising me.

Pitioss is well-established as a nightmare of an experience. Not to mention no auto-save afterwards prior to the Type-F taking off and crashing. It's notoriously awful when looked at by any metric.
