4 years too late, but: Hold Fast is a counterstance and thus activates everytime any unit tries for contact damage, including Mario since his basic jump and basic hammer are both contact damage

Wait, do you instantly die when you use Poison Shroom with Double Pain, or is it just 10 damage!? If it's the former, I'd like to see a video of a hacked 999HP Mario kill himself in this way and see how the game reacts to it! Even a Level 99 200HP Mario would be nice.

Damage taken caps at 99 so you'd still have plenty of health left. Sorry, mate.

Look at it like this: You take 50% in "damage" on all your energies if you roll a poison bingo. On your HP this is counted as actual damage Double Pain makes that a 100%. Unless your HP is not dividable by 2 without rest, a "Pingo-DP-combo" will always oneshot you Edit: ofc, if we were to ignore damage caps
