I learned about "cold composting" from another KZbinr. Basically just burying produce scraps directly into my flowerbeds and raised beds. I was skeptical, but it breaks down really fast, at least in the summer heat.

Awesome! I wondered if this would work as we don’t have a lot of room

Great advice! We compost, buy second hand as much as possible, borrow so we don't have to purchase an item we may not need, and use reusable shopping bags. We are now working towards lowering food waste and swapping out to more sustainable food storage as things need to be replaced. So love your inspiration to be minimal, sustainable, conscious of our choices! 💗

I'm definitely gonna start composting. I hope everyone can listen to the tedx talk every argument against veganism and look into veganism because it's actually the biggest thing we can do to help the environment, even more than giving up your car (source: Oxford University Joseph Poore)

I notice there is a compost bin on your kitchen counter, It would be amazing if you explain how it works and how you use it, there is a lot of us that live in an apartment not in a house, in a big city where is not easy to compost or we may think that we need a big yard to do so. I enjoy your videos so much, they are so inspirational!

I live in an apartment and compost in a huge flowerpot - - one that would take a small tree. I keep food scraps in the fridge until the container is full then bury them in the soil. My compost has attracted lots and lots of worms. I've no idea where they came from but they really do the job.

Composting is SO intimidating to me... I still haven't gotten a bin started because I just get way too overwhelmed. I'm going to try your tip and see what happens!

I just bought my compost bin earlier today! I was already excited about it before, but now I am really hyped because it is the one suggestion that you want to stick. Makes me curious to know what is so great about it. An update will follow...

Composting seems to be the only thing I can never get right. Its hard for me to stay consistent with it especially through the New England winters. During the spring and summer I tend to throw food scraps out in my compost more often.

As a millennial who grew up very poor. I 100% don't have a throw them away mindset. My hubby who grew up middle class 100% does have a throw it away mindset. When moving it annoyed him a little that I wanted to find the best way to donate every single thing in our home down to used plastic tupperware, but he loves me so didn't ask me to just throw everything away.

Years ago when we first started composting we noticed a distinct soapy smell and thought our neighbors were messing with the bin. Turns out our compost was infested with citronella ants. We had a very productive garden that summer!

Excellent advice. I compost, and bring it to a compost station in our town. Our state passed a compost law and a lot of folks here actually compost. A lot don’t too, but hopefully as time moves forward it will become a normal thing everyone (more or less) will jump on board. Your tips are great. The first one is amazing and they only get better from there. Thank you! 🌻

I love your videos, very good advice and have changed a few thing more things per your suggestions. Bamboo tooth brushes, love them, why did I not know about them before. Composting in my area would be difficult due to the critters, we have aggressive racoons, they are a problem trying to keep pets save. Best not to encourage them to hang around. Currently have 1 racoon and 2 possums; one of the possums thinks my back porch laundry room is it's new home. I get hissed at, feel sorry for it, seems so scared, but sure wish it wouldn't hang out on my enclosed porch. I do recycle as much as possible, really upset that my area stopped accepting glass a couple of years ago, but can recycle pretty much everything else. TY

Hi again... I just got one of your old posts pop up on my KZbin feed... the one of your sister's wedding. What a lovely video, and the wedding looked like a great time was had by all. Was delighted with your so-blond family. It looked like a wedding in Sweden!

I've first heard of compost almost three years ago but I haven't started yet. I live in a house but there are two other houses in the property, and sometimes I'm not here for 3 or 4 days a week, so I'm scared it will smell bad and annoy the neighbours 😅 But I agree in that the best thing is to just get started! I overthink so I don't get around to doing it!

I’ve been composting for several years. Luckily the only critters I see are lizards! They must be keeping out the bad guys. 😊
