So true! I honestly believe Amazon prime is a trap to collect clutters in our house. It’s too easy to click and buy all sorts of items. I’m trying to convince my husband to discontinue…
@allieblank59923 жыл бұрын
I used to think my closet was too small. I bought into the consumerist mindset of more, more! Then slowly my mindset changed. I only need to keep what I love and wear, and they say we generally only wear 20% of our wardrobe anyway . Before my closet overwhelmed me. Now I have all that I need and wear, and I go through and acess it regularly. It is efficient and almost calming now when I open my closet.🙂

In under 2 minutes you hit the nail on the head! I’m guilty of that and I’m over it, it’s ridiculous. The more I think about it the more consumerism should be considered an addiction. I appreciate you and others like you putting this content out! God bless you! ❤️

Clutter seems to be my #1 anxiety trigger. I started my minimalism journey in 2014 and haven’t looked back. I continue to watch videos even though I’m just maintaining. It keeps me motivated. 😊

Now, I try to think about it twice before purchasing something! Most of the time I end up not purchasing it because I don't want to reclutter my home. It's so easy to be tempted! Cheers from Ontario Canada 🌺🌸🌷

Yessss to the gift cards! 🙋♀️🙋♀️ Family didn't understand for a long time because they always wanted to have a physical thing to hand over as a gift. Experiences (movies, the zoo, etc...) and you can't go wrong with Amazon cards or someone's favorite store or restaurant.

When possible I ask stores to keep packaging before bringing the item home like shoe boxes etc. Also I need to unsubscribe from a couponing person who shows 90 percent off items at stores.

I love the “one out and one in” rule! That’s an easy one to remember too. Also, I made the mistake last week when we went shopping and bought some new Fall clothes without already getting my donate pile ready to go. It makes it so much more work to not do that in advance! You’re point on about that! I’m proud of my husband bc as soon as he saw what we had done, he said that he needed to go through his things and donate his older clothes to replace his new ones with. I was thinking it, but he said it! 👍😃 I’m so happy he is on board with the minimalist idea more and more since I started this journey! Thank you for more great content! ❤️

Clutter triggers me, I have a rule if I buy clothing, or a purse that I might need, I donate something. Yesterday at a thrift store I bought a beautiful everyday backpack it was mint, I came home and took the old one and put it in my donate box. I shop intentionally for me that is key…. If I happen to buy something for the house that I really didn’t need, like decor, I walk around trying to see where I could put it, such a waste of time, another promise I have now made, NO more buying unless I know exactly where it is going to go.. I agree with everything you said. I have the same Rolling Stone tee, and I felt so sad that Charlie Watts passed away yesterday… I will wear my tee today in his memory

Before I buy something…I ask myself “Do you need it, or do you just want it?” and this seems to help determine which items go in the basket or back on the shelf! 😃

Clutter is such a stress trigger!! I have little kiddos who drag things ALL over the house lol managing those messes are so stressful! Having less things for them to spread around definitely cute down on my stress level. Sometimes I questioned myself with “why deprive my children of things they enjoy for my convenience?”… and my quickest answer is “because a stressful mom is not fun to live with. Plus, they’ll remember the moments we shared and the peace in our home way more than they will remember “all the stuff”! Thx for always sharing great tips!

My husband is not a minimalist, neither are my kids- so I’m sure you can imagine after some time it starts to become overwhelming! Right now the rule is, if my husband buys our boys a new toy, they will declutter 4 toys to donate. It really helps them boil down to what they absolutely love, and what they can live without. I also think that leading by example is of utmost importance 😊 I tend to buy quite a few plants, and recently I knew I was a bit overboard, so my boys watched me donate it to someone who loved it! That being said, once I can close the toy chest again, we will go back to the one in, one out rule 😆

I love this! I agree. I used to spend on things not experiences or items that I will use forever...I used to be HORRIBLE about buying before checking stock from mascara to bath gel to jewelry..now I look and wait til extremely depleted until buying and I make do with my favorite jewelry. Same with perfumes. Decorating items. So great excellent tips especially getting rid of packaging!! Thank you for your encouragement. You motivate me!!!

Thank you for sharing . I’ve finally started to think more about ..where will I put this lovely item when I get home lol ..where as before I would just buy it .you mentioned getting rid of packaging..my worst thing is when I have Amazon delivery…all the boxes ..I either convince myself I will need the boxes for something or I hate picking labels off ..here in the Uk Amazon had little strips under labels to help pick off..they don’t now..I miss them lol..so I tend to leave the empty boxes for a few days I confess lol .but this last two weeks I’ve been trying to sort as soon as possible .🤪

I have been one of your subs for a while, and I think this is one of your best videos yet. Great tips and guidelines, especially the part about boundaries. One of the rules I live by is: "If something is not important enough to assign it a home, then it is not important enough to keep". (Hey, did I learn that from you? Haha)
