My betta fish (Blue) died last night. I guess he was already sick when I realised he didn’t ate much and was at the bottom of his tank and not swimming happily like he was before. Spent around 5 hrs staying up with him so he didn’t died alone. Broke my heart to see him in pain and fighting to be strong but i was glad i was with him. Love you Blue! 🤍🤍

I'm sorry for your loss! Sounds like he was a lucky fish to have a loving owner. Our Betta is named Bluey. He is over 2 yrs old and he looks so bad. I think he isn't going to last much longer. He is such a good and sweet boy. I will literally cry my eyes out when he goes.

How come I am so sad about losing my dear Guppie? Was it because I bought him for my cute little niece and it was such a fun memory to decorate his tank? Or is it because my aging mom loved to talk to him as he swam and fluttered around? Or is it because he always knew when it was breakfast, along with the other critters in our home, and greeted me with excitement every time? Oh Guppie. My beta past away today. He lived for 1 year and 50 weeks, so sad he didn’t make it to 2. He did have a big lump on his back that we didn’t know what was, but the pet shop said he would be fine and gave us medicine to put in the water. This video was very helpful though.

My betta fish Slade was completely healthy. He was bright red, swam around his tank alert and with purpose. He was always very curious and looked at everyone that walked by, but a few days ago, he was floating sideways at the top as if he was having issues with his swim bladder. I decided to fast him for one day thinking that maybe he was constipated. He began to act normal again yesterday. Today, I checked on him and he was floating side ways again. I thought that maybe his water needed to be changed and tank cleaned so I did that. When I got back home, he was floating at the top dead so I honestly don’t know what was wrong with him. I only had him for 5 months since I took him from my university’s science lab so I do not know how old he actually was before I took him since he was already at adult size when I was able to take him home.

Same with mine. But it’s bc u probs have a small tank. I looked it up. They said if your betta isn’t moving a lot then that’s means it bored or tired. This is caused bc ur tank is small. Most people thing it’s bc ur betta is lonely. No it’s not. Bettas don’t get lonely. It’s just recommended to buy rocks and plants and little caves for your betta to play in. Don’t get it another betta fish to play with. Bettas actually fight a lot when they are together and may kill themselves.

Most of my bettas I've had over the years died of old age, but the dropsy threw me for a loop. As you can imagine, I freaked out because he (just over a period of a week) grew a massive belly, then keeled over. He didn't seem to suffer too badly, as he ate as normal. Heck, the little guy laid on his side most of the time, but when I got the food, he swam with all his might to get it. The last night was the hardest, as he was laying in the gravel on his side; he tried moving his head to the top, but couldn't move his body. Thankfully, he seemed to pass in his sleep.

my betta eyes are a bit foggy but i did go through a period where his feeding schedule was very inconsistent (i was struggling to take care of myself too) and i haven’t been cleaning his tank as often because it is winter rn. i’ve heard those could lead to foggy eyes but he is also pretty lazy recently so i’m getting worried. this video was so helpful it hard to watch. i guess time will only tell at this point.

Can I know if your betta had trouble breathing? I don't know why but this few days, my betta seems choking while gulping air. Normally he will go to the surface to gulp air like any normal betta would do. But now, everytimes he gulped the air, he seems to took several gulp and jerking while doing it.

I bought my fish a month and change ago she’s not doing well. She might be sick. She shows signs of these symptoms like lethargy, no appetite, rapid breathing, etc.. She has a planted tank 9.5 gallons, but she didn’t get food for the past 2 days because plants were coming out of substrate. Maybe it messed with nitrate? Any tips? I'm working on saving Lucifer now. I've had him for 6 months and over the past week he's been lethargic more and more. I have raised the heat in the tank and medicated him. I had a Veiltail Betta Male named Tajo I was in the middle of filming Tik Tok drawing and all the sudden I saw that my fish look like something happened to him. I checked if he was still alive but thank gosh he was until I thought at8:15-16 pm he slowly passed away sadly now my mood changed and had custody of two other fishes Laney and Ophelia . Rip Tajo August 22-October 1, 2022 . Im so annoyed at myself, because I noticed my betta acting weird, lethargy and bloated stomach, but I thought nothing of it, then the stomach returned to normal but the lethargy stayed, did some basic research, it was all pointing to him resting, but also could have been very serious and I did nothing of it. Two months later, (now) i found him almost completely immobile, at the bottom of the tank not eating and with a very bloated belly, I acted immediately, put him in a quarantine tank changed the water etc, my current diagnosis is swim bladder failure, and I think tonight may be my last night with him, all because of my own stupidity. I have had my betta for about 2 years maybe, maybe a little over a year and I try everything to keep him alive. He had swim bladder problems, Fin rot, he has popeyed disease he has a lot of problems ever since I moved him from a like a 4 gallon tank to a 10 gallon tank he was just never really better after that. He doesn't have a loss of apatite or anything he always swims super fast when I'm around, and he has play mates ( Sucker fish and some snails) but he was jus never the same after i moved him from his small tank. I'm actually annoyed now, I did a cert 3 in aquaculture so I believe I do know a little something at least about water quality, I've never had a betta before, just lots of normal tropical fish of different kinds, my partner told me he has experience with Bettas and has had them for years, so when he got one I didn't complain that I thought the candle holder sized tank was too small, he scooped the fish up by hand and also did not use water conditioner in the tap water after many times of me suggesting we do so, he said they don't need any "chemicals" I said there's chlorine in our drinking water so we need to use it, he insisted I trust him so I did, I think the fish was overstressed since we only had him for less than 3 days, we first had him in a fish bowl but the water was getting so dirty so moved him to a coke bottle we rinsed out and cut the top off, he was lazy and slow after we left the pet store, I told him we need a heater for the fish, as he's the one who said they're tropical fish, I said we need a little heater then because the tap water my partner gave him in our past water-change was super cold, but he kept telling me I didn't know how to take care of a betta coz they're different than normal fish and my partner kept asking me is it dead yet every time I tried to do anything with the fish, which made me feel like I wasn't capable of taking care of a betta (since they're so much different to other fish) and I apparently know nothing, kinda made me feel like an idiot who thinks they know everything but has proven to know nothing, I seriously felt like the idiot who was proven to know nothing, was I right to think the fish needed a bigger tank than the size they are displayed in at the pet shop, was I right to want to use tap water conditioner, was a right to want to use a heater for him, was a right in thinking he was handled too much ? 🤷🏻‍♀️

My precious betta Nemo is no more today 😢 I am just heartbroken 💔 & in tears. I bought him exactly 5 months before and he seemed perfectly fit and fine. Just two days before, I saw him not eating food, not pooping and mostly he would remain at the bottom of the tank inactive. I initially thought it might have been due to change in weather, but I was wrong. He was suffering silently poor thing. I got all the parameters right, used to clean the tank regularly, never overfef him and always used to give it company everyday he would come happily to eat the small pellet food. Yesterday it just inclined one side then started breathing fast through the fins and then sadly today he died. Rest in peace my Nemo. I know he's in heaven.

My bettas name is Twizzler. He has a very nice tank and stress free environment. I purchased Twizzler 4 or 5 days ago. I’m now positive my betta fish is dying. I’m unsure of his age because I got him from a very bad pet store but I was able to identify that he is a male. I was uneducated when I bought him and he lives in a 1 gallon fish bowl with these little ball things as good. I got him a year ago on October 22 so he’s over 1 year I’m thinking he is almost 2 years but that’s just an estimate. The year has gone by so fast and i’m not ready to lose him :(

He most likely has one of the symptoms listed. Try giving the fish cucumber and peas that are boiled and peeled. (Only do this sometimes and very little amounts) you can do this as a treat for them as well they love it (some of them do) mostly these are used to cure swim bladder and constipation. Peas work better for constipation and cucumber for swim bladder. Honestly I’m sorry but if your fish is UPSIDE down completely on the top then he’s probably going to pass due to not having proper ventilation and a lot of other things.

My beta is one year old and has always been active , happy and in great condition .he was great then two three days ago he’s not eating , even his blood worms that he lets me feel him wit Th blunt tweezers 😍 don’t know what’s wrong he’s lethargic laid on bottom. His water is fine , he’s no signs of any illness , his slime coat and colour ok . He’s not grasping he’s just laid there . Don’t know what to do 😭feel like I’m loosing him

Me too :( I know he must be suffering but my mom doesn’t care about him because he is “just a fish” so she won’t let me upgrade his tank or change his diet. She cares about my guinea pigs but to her my fish doesn’t matter. His name is Crackers and i’m so scared to lose him. Knowing he never got/will get a good shot at life hurt me. I'm so scared that my betta Chestnut (He's a Galaxy Koi Betta) is sick or dying. I've had him for a little less than a month now and he used to swim around his tank and play with his decorations but now all he does is hide behind his decor and lay at the bottom of the tank. I recently had moved him from a 2 gallon tank to a 5 gallon and he had seemed to love it. The day I swapped him over he did laps back and forth for a good hour an a half. I try to feed him but he won't come up for food and barely reacts to anything. Do any of y'all have some advice you could give me? Google hasn't been very helpful and the pet store I got him from are just as clueless. I don't wanna lose him :(

Right now yesterday my fish (wonder) was caught in the filter of our tank and his tail was shredded off we put him in a recovery tank and today I checked on him and he was swimming upside down and was sitting sideways at the top He’s floating all around the tank not moving and is trying to swim but can’t and he’s breathing cause his gills are moving but he can’t move R.I.P wonder :{

If he is flaring then he’s scared of you and thinks you are going to harm him or possibly another fish. You need to build trust with him. There are TONS of amazing videos on how to build trust with your fish. My fish personally already was very happy. When I walk near the tank he follows my direction. The tank is on my nightstand near my bed I wake up to the glass and him right there staring at me! 🥰🥰🥰

It´s a labyrinth fish - it´s normal for them to come up to the surface and gulp air, unless it´s all your fish is doing it´s normal. For the food spitting: Soak the food in water before adding it and remember that betta fish have very tiny stomachs. Keep that in mind for feeding and the size of pellets. If you didnt let the water sit so that it gets air in it, it will die. You need to leave the water sitting for 24 hours before you put the a beta in it. They boshy as hell

@@3dcrackers829 For water changes: Yes, let the new water sit for 24 hours or add water conditioner - it has nothing to do with air, but with chemicals in tap water. For an entire new tank: You need to cycle it. No matter the fish, benificial bacteria needs to establish before adding the fish (up to six weeks) or you´re fish is likely to die from nitrite or amonia poisening, unless you monitor by daily testing and performing a fish in cycle.

I can’t figure anything but old age with mine. He’s in a planted aquarium with regular water changes. I even saved him through a whole week when Texas froze over for a week and we lost power. Kept him alive then and idk what’s going on now but old age :/
