The Shema I memorized in Hebrew which my son taught me on a long car drive. The Shema: the last words I spoke before going under the knife, as a septic mother, toxemic , fourth surgery. It spiritually grounded me and delivered me and my child.

I say the Shma twice per day, but to me it always sounds (in my head) like a declaration that should be shouted from the rooftops rather than said quietly/reverently.

Why is it that whenever I see The Name spelled as yud-heh-vav-heh, I automatically bow? I was never taught to do that...
