It may be a good idea to use the smaller pen knife on most of your wood cutting stuff. It saves the main blade and gives you much more control

My EDC knife is the Tinker,Small. I keep it hanging from my pants loop. For extra carry in the outdoors I like the [Climber and the Huntsman] Main reason; The multi purpose hook and the corkscrew on both.

good tips, wood be good to say what wood you used for different tasks. funny how I was curious if your wet like next will ignite from the bow drill amber, but then you just jump to the flame in the next frame ;)

Great video. When you build your guide for the cordage cutter (the little wood block), I would suggest to make the two incisions first and then , after, to cut the length. That way you will have more t grab during the cuts. Just a suggestion. Thanks for the hacks.

Why would you use a SAK corkscrew to use the knife as a carry handle for a small log you could just carry with you hands?! It risks breaking the corkscrew which only designed to use in cork, not wood, therefore losing an otherwise useful implement from the knife.
@davidcoons89Ай бұрын
That’s the beauty of a SAK is its ability to do what’s asked of it within reason of course and using it how you want it is part of that experience!

If you don't have an smartphone, how do you predict which end of the needle will be pointing North? I have never heard that explained.

At the beginning, I'm not sure it's a good idea to lift that log of wood and put so much pressure on the tiny mecanism with that downards force....

2:37 OK, so, why would you use your tool to secure two pieces of wood together? Then you'd have no tool! I don't get it. [When I was at Boy Scouts we ALWAYS carried a length of mattress chain with a hook on each end, which we hung off a pole tripod to boil water!! Simple and idiot proof! 5:30 Watching you struggle with the cuts on that small bit of wood - here's a tip. Before cutting the desired length, first do all those other cuts with the saw while the pole is still long. Once the cuts are all done, then cut off at the desired length. Much more manageable.

Some good ideas here. Pity there is a cut at 14:45 because it would have been good to see whether you had actually started the fire with that method. The main question being: Is what you had done by 14:44 sufficient to start the fire by just blowing or did you have to do it again? It would be good to see that method working from start to finish because it seems quite difficult to me.
@marcdewilde5189 ай бұрын
Agreed. Suddenly there was fire before there was smoke. As the saying goes : no fire without smoke😁
@michaelstewart70367 ай бұрын
He did everything right except he forgot to cut a notch in the board for the dust to collect in if you dont cut a notch it spreads itself too thin on top of the board and wont ignite my guess is he lit it with the zippo
@futuresonex5 ай бұрын
It was a good video overall, but the bow-drill fire was faked. That's not how it works. There has to be a notch cut into the hearthboard to collect the ember, and the tinder has to be much finer and drier in order to be lit and blown into flame from such an ember.

This may be a good use for it but WD40 is not a lubricant--- not a lubricant--- you can put it on where lubricant should stay and go back sometime later and there will be nothing there...... WD40 is not a lubricant of any desirable viscosity.

Don't let this guy fool you. The Huntsman (corkscrew) is the same as Super Tinker (phillips screwdriver instead of corkscrew). You will use the phillips 100 times in a year and use the corkscrew on New Years Eve. There is no magnet in the button hook/ parcel hook and no one puts a pin in that little hole. You will never keep your blade sharp enough to make cordage or fishing line from a plastic bottle and bend the pin (that you won't stick in that little hole because it slides out and jabs you) to make a fish hook
@Wie-ein-Fischlein-unterm-Eis5 ай бұрын
You cheated on making the fire
@ppedram64256 ай бұрын
It's really a disaster in every sense, cutting green trees, throwing away the rest of the plastic bottle and... do you know what you are doing?
