In a draft I played tonight, I got lowered down to 1 life in one of my games, but was just barely hanging on, with some decent flying creatures that were whittling my opponent down, since he had nothing that could stop fliers. I just needed one more turn of attacks to finish him off, but then he played Witch's Mark and put the Wicked Role token on one of his creatures. If I don't block it, I obviously die, but if I do block it, I'll kill it no matter who I block with, and I'll die to the Wicked Role instead. I had just one usable combat trick in my hand, and it was Moment of Valor. His creature was big enough to kill with it after the Wicked Role token buffed it up, but if I did that, the Wicked Role would obviously kill me. Instead, I used it to make his creature indestructible! This way, I could block it without it dying, and I wouldn't die to the Wicked Role, and then I was able to finish him off with my fliers on the next turn! Man, pulling off that stunt felt great!

I love unconventional plays, one game I played pacifism (cooped up) on my kellan to give my board +1/+0

I love this. I was playing against an opponent who had a 1/1 flyer that was their ringbearer on the last level where if it connects it does 3 damage to me. I had a 4/5 flyer but i couldn't block ot because of the first ringbearer ability. when they attacked with the 1/1 I realized I had zhalfirin shapecraft so I could turn the 1/1 into a 4/3 and eat it with my blocker, that was so great because zhalfirin shapecraft is a cantrip too

Turn 1 Gingerbrute into turn 2 Witch's Mark leading to a silly little gingerbread man dealing an assload of damage is genuinely funny. This format is so fun

Sweettooth witch really surprised me in my drafts. Its no tough cookie of course but still has just enough pressure to close out quite a few games.

its great too because the food token helps you stabilize against aggro OR helps you finish off your opponent if you're the aggro deck

I've always been a supporter of gnawing crescendo, in this format going wide is easy and in red you often end up with a few rat tokens that aren't super useful in the mid to late game. if the opponent lets them through, the crescendo can easily be 6 or 8 damage and close the game, if they block them you can trade very effectively. it's not good in every deck but in any aggressive deck I like to have one.

Looks like you're feeling better! Glad to have you back, Nizzahon! When is your next draft? I love watching and I learn a lot from your videos.

I'm actually sick in this video, edited around a ton of coughing. Haha. Hopefully the next draft video will be on Tuesday.

I was expecting Callous Sellsword. It has been impressive whenever I play it and it seems to wheel. That being said, it IS one reason why Twisted Fealty is so strong and that made the list
@HamSandwich-xk3om
@HamSandwich-xk3om Жыл бұрын
My only thought on that is the video is cards that are better than you think and the sellsword is probably already used according to its value🤷 but I concur on the use with twisted fealty, as it has won me many a draft match..

You've been posting really strong Wilds of Eldraine content! Your draft advice is always solid but you take it to the next level with WoE.

My idea for going really hard Brave the Wilds aggro didn't have legs, but I kind of knew it was a card people would underrate. One mana sacrifice something small to get a 3/3 with haste and draw a land like - that sounds like a good card to me!

I love these vids to see if the things I'm noticing are the same things you're noticing. And this time we were eye to eye on like 8/10. (I just dont like the white pump spell lol) You always really amp me up for draft season, man. Thanks for all the great videos!

Nizza, what about flick a coin? I know it has a hige win rate, but I cannot, for the life of me, understand why. Is it because it kills things like rats and mintrosity?
@NizzahonMagic
@NizzahonMagic Жыл бұрын
I mean...it's really good. Have you not played with or against it? It gets 2-for-1s pretty often, and even when you pick off a rat with it it's fine. On top of that it fixes your mana and gives you Bargain fodder.
@leandromafe

No, I haven't played much with it or against it. I guess it does do a lot of stuff in the format.

On the other hand I see the one where you discard, draw 2 and create a wicked role token all the time.

I actually think Archon's Glory is better than Monstrous Rage in limited (at least in RW). It's really hard to actually win a combat with Rage, since you've got so many 1-toughness creatures and later on, even if you do have to precombat it, flying is just so much better than trample, and lifelink is so important in racing the other aggro decks.

is Johann's Stopgap still worth including in a deck that has practically no bargain targets?

Yes, but it is significantly worse.

Sorry if this is whiny, but can you template the win rate/pick number. Confuses the brain when im flipping through them and taking notes.
@martinrosschou

I get the logic of "This card has xx win %, there for it should be picked earlier than it is", but there is a chance that those two things actually are entwined so to speak. It could be interesting to see how their win rate is when 1st picked. It might be bad. Then again it might be bad, because only bad pilots would ever 1st pick such a card heheh
@SomersBugtopia

Yeah I could easily imagine cards being better earlier in a draft or later when they begin to fit their role in the deck more.

You're unlikely to pick spell stutter unless you already have strong blue cards or faeries. The data is not telling you that the card is good, it's telling you that decks that have spell stutter win (probably because they have blue bombs).

faun is decent with its winrate, considering that green is a bad color in most of the sets they release, black red needs to be broken every set.
@tmille171
@tmille171 Жыл бұрын
Hard disagree that every red deck wants a Gnawing Crescendo. Its IWD is slightly negative, implying that the decks that play it and see it are performing just slightly worse on average than the typical red deck. It's a filler card in most red decks, and only very strong in some.

i feel like this video is way less useful than the "bad cards" video. a lot of these cards (fae court, twisted fealty, apple, and gnawing crescendo at least) are good to have exactly one copy of in your deck. then additional copies are usually terrible. which means you Should be hoping to pick them up late or on the wheel. which.... kind of means those are all being chosen appropriately late. which means that then this video becomes an exercise in misinformation / bad advice. this is why 17 lands data needs to be used with caution, and this video is exercising none of that.
