I have some of the 50” clamps and have still needed longer clamps from time to time. The extenders just solved a lot of problems and saved a lot of money in the long run for me. Thank you.

I used strap clamps last year making a dozen picture frames for Christmas presents, and they were absolute life savers for keeping all of the frames consistent during glue-up, and when i was drilling to add dowels for re-enforcement afterwards.

I Gauging makes a different model of calipers that I would recommend over the EZ-cal version. It's called the the Fastener Cal, and is only a few bucks more. It has all the same features, but adds a fraction mode intended for quick fastener or nut size identification. Standard fraction mode displays the closest 1/256", the "nut" mode gives you the closest 1/32" which is more than close enough for most woodwork. Both are great, but that feature makes it that much more useful.

Tip on the Bessey strap clamp. I have had one for a few years and love it. One thing that was annoying was how often I accidentally loosened the side clip on the short end of the strap and had it slip out. It’s not elegant, but I tied an overhand knot in the end of the strap so it cannot slip out of the short side. Other than that minor thing, that is an awesome clamp. I am trying to justify the cost of several so I can batch out small projects.

When I saw the Harvey miter gauge I thought I wanted one. Unfortunately I don’t like that the angles on the fence are more appropriate for a right tilt saw vs the more common left tilt. I recently ordered the Rockler fence for miter gauges and will see how well that works for me once it finally gets here. I enjoy your videos, thanks for doing them.

Digital callipers are a must-have in my opinion. Without them, you cannot guarantee your table saw is perfectly aligned. And you also can’t hone in your cross cut sled to Starrett levels of accuracy.
@rjtumble
@rjtumble 3 жыл бұрын
I recently saw a video where the guy showed how to use the calipers to measure an outside depth. Instead of balancing the end of the caliper and extending the little bar down (which can be inaccurate) he used the top of the gauge. Flip the calipers over and notice when you extend one side, how there's a ledge. Put the part that doesn't move on the top of what you're measuring and extend the other part down. Sits nice and flat on the thing you're measuring, neat trick. I think it was "You are using your calipers wrong!" by Erik Cortina

Question on the woodpecker rulers. They have a divot for the pencil. Does that mean you have to account for that divot in measuring? Otherwise the flat part of the rule and the divot for the pencil is not the same distance from the edge
@JamesAllen-mh9ms
@JamesAllen-mh9ms 3 жыл бұрын
The divot is to make up for the offset of the lead. You make your mark "outside" of the actual measurement without it. By marking in the cutout, your mark is actually on the measurement.
@bobby-c7731
@bobby-c7731 3 жыл бұрын
@@JamesAllen-mh9ms ok. So, when cutting the true length is right down the center of the mark, rather than just inside it? Makes sense. Thanks for the speedy reply

I have used and hated the Fastcap metric (blue and yellow) measuring tapes. The problem is it is all in mm. In Europe we like the separation of 10 mm is 1 cm (10:1) and as soon as you get above 1 meter: that's 1000 mm The amount of digits is getting mind-boggling. So different from the European style metric tape measures. So I HATE the Fastcap metric versions. I have three of them and can't return them to the shop because they are only a Fastcap reseller not Fastcap themselves. Don't buy the Fastcap metric tape measures !!!
