For those looking for Karen, she is in a pink shirt at table 70 i think. The camera never gets close to her until After she finishes at 1:02:24. She was focused on so much last year, this year we've only seen her a few seconds,if at all. I think because Ravensburger is sponsoring her, they weren't allowing her to be filmed so we have no choice but wait until her videos months from now. Just my thoughts

There was a 2024 puzzle event in germany??? And I missed it... im gonna save the website they established and keep checking it in hopes that they do it again 2025. I cant afford to travel to spain. a 4h train travel in germany is doable though (despite the unreliable train system, lol).

How come some competitors have to share a table and others don’t. How come some of those sharing a table take more than half the space? I would love it if the sponsor found a bigger venue with more space for competitors and spectators. Consistent and better lighting for the competitors would be great as well.
@carriehuffman193052 минут бұрын
The top 24 (I think) got their own tables and the rest had to share.

I think there is nothing wrong with him it’s about his method he used to try a pice multiple time at a moment he was and is so fast but it mainly come from try and error method in this competition he was not physically prepared to do this as fast as last years I think he should revise his method and being less dependent on try and error

Sad that Alice finished and they didn't show her. I know it was busy but she IS the American National champ so that's frustrating! Other than that, excellent coverage! Great job everyone!
@bibliopolist17 сағат бұрын
Well, if the American National champ isn't close to being really competetive, this can happen. Maybe start your own "world series" without other countries, then you're sure your champ is treated accordingly.
@TheyLoveThemLLC16 сағат бұрын
@@bibliopolist Kind of a rude response when there's no reason to be defensive, but go off. They showed everyone finishing and didn't show her finishing. That's not okay. Also she's 17?? Grow up

What happened? Why the strange anomaly? Drastic changes in performance across the board. The puzzle almost seemed to simple in both pairs and individual finals is that why?
@ThaGamingMisfitКүн бұрын
Congratz to everyone ! So cool to see the different styles at the same time. Those are some very fast times for a pretty hard puzzle ! Commentary was pretty awkward at times, even amateuristic. If more of the world want to take this seriously we need better commentators. And a better location too, looked so cramped with all the people at the sides ! Imagine sitting at one of the tables at the side, there is no way you can focus there, even with headphones.
@jeannenebabor7897Күн бұрын
Lol they are talking about some big celebration in front of them and the camera is documenting people finishing. Lol
@dsmith8937Күн бұрын
If this were the first year for Worlds, it would be understandable that certain elements needed fine tuning, but this is not the first, not the second... they've been at it long enough to conduct it professionally. The commentary should be focused on the competitors and should not dominate, but be more of a backdrop. There were moments in one of the rounds where it was quiet, where there was not much chatter from the commentators - and it was so nice, but for most of the competition, there was annoying chatter, laughter, talking over each other, distraction - it was not only irritating but also upsetting. The participants have flown from all around the world, invested time and money and energy. Their families and friends were watching, hoping to see footage that wasn't there. This event drives up Ravensburrger sales, brings a lot of money and attention to the town. The venue was hot and uncomfortable. (Although better than last year - all that drumming outside!). Some of the participants were right up against the spectators - imagine how flustered they were. If the World Jigsaw Puzzle Federation wishes for the 'sport' to be taken seriously, they've got to step it up, fine tune the footage, be selective with the commentary, give the participants some breathing room and recognition throughout the venue (show them on camera, pan the room and give the friends and family watching a glimpse of their loved one now and then). Imagine watching any other sport and not seeing the players. Imagine listening to the announcers talk about things that have nothing to do with the sport, especially at critical times like penalties and goals. So much room for improvement here. If you share this sentiment, send an email to the WJPF and encourage them to do better.

Actually, all of the points you just named would pretty much ruin the fun of watching for me. I don't want this to be like any other sport, where winning is everything, and just having fun is nothing. I don't want to lose those moments where first and second place hug and are so happy for each other. I don't want to miss the chats, the (sometimes bad) jokes, the giggles, the aaawwws and oooohs during the commentary. This event is about community, about coming together to celebrate your niche hobby. Finding your best while being at it is just a side effect. And that makes it so very special.

No Just No These are volunteers working normal jobs and dedicating huge amounts of personal time to organising this. Without pay! You want a professional setting? Then watch a professional sport not an underground movement with ordinary people pouring their heart into it. Yes Ravensburger sponsors the dome and puzzles, but the commentators and judges do this for free. Do You organise things? Then plan an event and prove how proff it can be.

@@trullatube @RuthBhmand - did you notice that today, things were a little bit different? The cameras panned the room many times, and many, many contestants were shown at different points of the competition. How delightful for friends and family watching them, and how exciting for them to look back on. The camera work was so much better today; the split screens captured the most intense periods of the competition and made it very exciting. The commentary, especially in the beginning, was more low key - one person talking at a time. They talked about the contestants, gave the viewers some good and relevant information. All around, the competition today was much more enjoyable to watch because it was handled in a more professional manner. This took nothing away from anyone, but on the contrary, highlighted the community aspect, the fun, the celebratory attitude, the hugs, the excitement. We can't deny that today's event was more inclusive, and we can't ignore how that felt must have felt for the participants, spectators and family/friends watching from home.

I do find the commentary annoying at times, I must admit. I expect the first thing they do is to hold up the puzzle, tell us the name of it, and let us get a good look. Instead of telling us how cool or pretty it is, show us the fricking puzzle!!!! I actually prefer Charlie, less waffle. Dont get me wrong, I like Valerie and shes a genuinely nice oerson, but the commentary at times is so inane, and she can hardly bear to ket anyone else talk.
@punchpineappleКүн бұрын
I too would love to see the puzzle quickly - I think the commentators have realised that the camera is not going to go to them for a couple of minutes so they have no choice but to fill in time until they can show it. I think they have cameras on the competitors for a few moments because sometimes there is drama in the opening moments, like someone's bag bursts open. Maybe next year the cameras can briefly cut to a slide of the puzzle picture for the first 10 seconds or something.

Could they not put an image up just before the 10 second countdown so that we can see it and then go to the commentators a few minutes in for the more in-depth discussion or have the puzzle images inset? They do two and four way screen splits so they can definitely show the puzzle at the same time.

The commentary for this event was in my opinion close to awkwatd, lots of lots of information and comments not really interesting, helpful or funny. And I think the organisation should change the rules for the next one. Why one of every of the best 45 countrys qualifies even if they are much much slower than lots of other participants makes no sence. Maybe someone will start a foundation who will organize world championships in a serious way and we all could enjoy this 10 times more. No front, just my opinion...
@markes5025Күн бұрын
You qualify if you are fast, but if you only qualify the fastest. It is possible you end up with 10 usa teams, 10 spanish teams etcetera. To prevent that you do both. And this actually what happens in more than one sport.
