The big difference between an inner city ghetto and a rural ghetto is that you can walk a few blocks to be out the inner city ghetto and it is part of a wider City with different areas within its boundaries. In a rural setting, you are stuck there and have to go miles and miles to have a break.

Lake City is a hole in the earth with a seemingly endless selection of dollar stores, gas stations, filthy and run-down strip-malls, vape shops and cannabis sellers. Bizarre architectural hodge-podge in every neighborhood. Where's the planning commission? Crawling with homeless who seem to have zero support from local leadership. I've lived in 3rd world countries and this is comparable. Abysmal. Thank God I've only had to have occasional drive-thrus.

Lived in Titusville in 1990 and I worked a paper route in an area nobody would deliver in. I carried a weapon but once they got used to me going in and why, no problem. We were broken in on, dude tried to break in my boys' room. Moved, daughter was born, came back from the hospital, got up and car was gone. The car was one month old and was taken to Mims and wrecked. Cops wouldn't prosecute because they said he was only 15, like that's an excuse.

Thanks for the videos. My neighbor sent me a link for the video you took of my neighborhood in Jacksonville, off Hodges and butler on Christmas Day. It was so nice to hear commentary on how lovely you and your girlfriend thought our neighborhood is. I really love it. Then I found this video, definitely cracked me up. My grandparents lived in a senior community in Arcadia half the year a long time ago. Although their snowbird retirement spot was polished nicely, as soon as you left… definitely don’t make the wrong turn 🤣😂

I think you are a little off about Jacksonville. Housing prices have almost doubled in the last year. Not really something that would happen if the place is as "undesirable" as you say it is. Jacksonville DOES have some bad neighborhoods, but you have to understand that Jacksonville is the largest geographical city in the country. It's like 20 cities in one. The bulk of Jax is amazing. Just because a small portion of the city on the west side or north side is sketchy, doesn't make the whole city bad.

I’m thankful y’all included rural areas, I grew up in a real rural area in Pennsylvania a lot, horrible property a lot of things normal to us there wasn’t normal to other people and it’s so hard to get out of poverty there it’s a 45 minute drive to file for any help with food, medical or career services and their is no public transportation to help with that and most jobs are at least half a hour away, unless you know someone at small businesses

You have listed areas from all across the state. You are right about some smaller places not being very welcoming to new comers because the new comers are the ones bringing in all the problems. My wife and I are old now and both grew up in Tampa. It was a nice place in the 60s through the mid 80s. We now live75 miles north of Tampa in a rural area and love it. If you think you going to move here from up north and make Florida like the place you're running from you are going to find that people here won't like you. I've been all over the country and everywhere has problems so if you think Florida doesn't you are sadly mistaken. So spare us and stay where you are.

I lived/grew up in Florida (Tampa) for decades and due to work, I became extremely familiar with all of the state. I traveled all over Florida - from Pensacola to Key West. For those not familiar with the state, a substantial and significant part of the state is rural living. Unless you have money and/or you earn a lot of it, you can expect a lot of what you see in this video. I know all of these towns and cities. South Florida is the part of Florida that I have never been fond of and never had any desire to live there: from Lake Okeechobee and especially the Southeastern part of the state (From FT Pierce to especially the greater Miami area, Homestead and most of the Keys). In addition, north of Tampa, no thanks either.

Yeah that tells you this was once a great place until the losers moved into it.. As i always say, don't want your community to turn into a shithole just make it impossible to live there unless you have a good job and steady income.. No Low cost housing No government assistance, also all the land lords who would rent make it so that you can't rent here if you have a felony.. i use to live in a place called Danvers In Massachusetts, best and safest place you can live, why? there is no rental property available there if you want to live there you have to buy a house there or condo. and the average cost to live there was very high, right now i think if you want to live in Danvers,Ma you need to make about $85,000.00 a year or more and $85,000.00 would be on the low end. The cheapest house you could get there is probably in the range or $500,000.00 to $600,000.00 and up, and as i said that is on the low end so if you want to live there you have to have a good job or be pretty wealthy to do it.. And The Police and the court systems don't play there, i remember one guy came from lynn,ma a shithole and decided to rob some ones house in Danvers and broke in and the people next door call the police and he got caught.. He was arrested and then found guilty of the crime and sentence to 18 years in prison it was armed burglary. The Defendant was shocked of what he got for a Sentence as if that was crazy, probably done it before in his community and got maybe 60 days lol. Not In Danvers, you do that there your screwed.. As a matter of fact all the Politicians and Police and Judges and mayors and all them Live In Danvers, Even celebrities from around there that is where they live... So think about it A Judge who lives there gets a criminal in front of him at his bench charged with Robbing a fellow Danvers residence that got robbed what do you think that judge is going to do? He is going to think i don't want shit like that happening to me or my friends i'm going to throw the book at this clown.... I remember this entire ordeal like it was yesterday, i was friendly with the police there use to go to the convenience store that they all go do got friendly with all they nice people and telling me the entire ordeal about it.. Judges there will slam any outsiders who come into Danvers to cause trouble, i remember once who got busted for road rage and got out of his car hit some ones car with a bat, making threats just because he wanted to illegally pass this guy driving like the asshole, and almost got into an accident so he decided to make it the other guys fault and start with the road rage bullshit. The cops arrived, arrested this guy and once again in front of the judge, and got 5 years in prison for doing that in In Danvers. Think about that 5 years for Assault, property damage to a car, armed assault, the Judged slammed this idiot, If he knew anything about that area and what they do to criminals he should have just moved on or not even pass though that town.. As i say they don't play games with criminals in Danvers, if you don't live there and you decided to be an ass and do something stupid expect to get heavy jail time, i never seen an outsider commit a crime in Danvers and not get stiff Jail time ,There is no such thing as probation or community service suspended sentence's punishments for outsiders there NOPE!!!

Ugh....Arcadia. Such a desolate, forlorn, rundown old dump. Located in the middle of nowhere, it's an eerie place with more than a few gutted, empty (read: haunted) mansions standing on the verge of collapse. These former showpieces are the rotting reminders of Arcadia's "golden age," (some 100-150 years ago) a time when lumber and citrus barons moved to the area and made their fortunes.

I’m from Philadelphia and relocated to Florida with my mother. She was ready for retirement and I’d recently been laid off, and decided to try somewhere new. Her friend told her how wonderful Inverness was, and it’s booming economy, and small town charm. She completely lied. 😂 There weren’t any jobs and whether it was Citrus County, Marion County, or Sumter County, it was all the same. Poverty with low wage jobs, tons of dilapidated trailers, and drugs everywhere. We tried Tampa, and while not as bad, it wasn’t much better. Pennsylvania isn’t perfect but, in my opinion, it’s better than Florida by tenfold. We’re so grateful to be back.

All true. Thanks! Florida has been fir 80 years or so, jobs: agriculture/migrant workers, wage hotel jobs, delivery jobs, trades of a/c repair, drywall installer, plumbers, lifetime municipal jobs at elec.cos, water cos, parks & rec, boating excursions/fishing rental on your own boat (high ins.)... BRING YOUR OWN JOB: Tech, computer, ebay sellers, unless you want to work in a call center. There has never been a proliferation of office jobs or well-paid jobs. Popularized AFTER 1950s air-conditioning availability (schools were nit even a/c until 1970s), retirees/many Canadians, headed here for 6mo. residency often in trailers. No longer affordable, even the smallest no maintenance block houses, 2 bdrm w. carport, rent or own... IS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE SINCE 2021-2, as the $800-1k rent or house payment folks ...has officially left the building.

The remarks about people being in denial allowing gangs to have the run of the city are very accurate. They certainly describe Jacksonville...But...that leaves the police department as a sort of security force outside the areas ceded to the gangs. Property crimes are very very low here. Our young people kill each other for fun. The communities where they run things are very very dangerous when they are present...like alligators. But its not something you will see every day as a working person with a regular schedule and a mortgage.

I live in Union County, pretty close to both old Town and even closer to Lake city. I won't argue too much at all about your assessment of old Town. A ton of poverty and all the trappings that come with it. Definitely some pros but a lot more cons . On the other hand I think youre giving lake city a bad wrap that's pretty much undeserved. I dont live there so I don't believe I'm being biased or taking your assessment personally. Lake city does have a few hood Hotspots that's undeniable. White hood areas around the five points area and legit on the other side of the tracks off of 90 is the typical hood that almost every city has. Once you're out of those areas it's pretty much a ton of positives. You do get a smaller town traffic feel which is nice because it isn't as populated as gainesville or ocala . You are 30 to 40 minutes or closer by ambulance from some of the best health care in the south east. You are an hour or so from beaches to the east you are a little over an hour from amazing fishing and kayaking on the gulf to the west. You are surrounded by more springs stateparks and rivers than its even worth listing here. You're day trip distance from Valdosta, Tallahassee, Jacksonville , and within 2 to 3 hours from Orlando or Tampa. The taxes are low the real-estate is reasonable and it's slower pace if that's what you're into. Plenty of dining, shops and a halfway okay theater. Plenty of jobs as well. Also jacksonville is 875 square miles the state of Rhode Island is like 1200. Every side of jax is like a different city. Some of them suck really bad, some of them suck less and some are pretty decent.

I drove through some of your places or beside them in a vintage Mercedes convertible 10 years ago--worse now--followed, ESCORTED really in front and behind. I felt lucky to get out of there. I am in my 70s in a straw hat, while stopping at a rural gas station that sold everything, the clerk GAVE ME a stars & stripes head kerchief to wear half under hat, and told me to lose the over-sweater and let my denim shirt be outside--you will look friendly, old and NOT rich, safer. He was from India, we noticed the usual scary crowd collecting in trucks and motorcycles outside, MIDDLE OF NOWHERE! He stood in doorway smoking as I slowly peeled away and got on the first Interstate I could find, relieved. The scenic route is not worth it, Easy Rider.

I’m from south Florida. Grew up in Kendall , which for those of u who don’t know is a part of Miami. I also as previously mentioned in another video lived for 10 yrs in n ft Myers and the cape. I really appreciate you taking time to showcase these places. I have seen slums all over the country. I have seen California slums. Florida by far has some of the worst places I’ve ever seen.

@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS
@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS 2 жыл бұрын
The only place with opportunities is Tampa. Fort Walton beach is nice but just keep in mind that its a small place with limited everything there are no larger cities anywhere near the panhandle. Pensacola (banjos playing) is practically like living In Alabama SOLID PASS on that. The real question is small beach town or bigger city whats best for you. Tampa you better be talking a good area.. traffic sucks and the city is ghetto for sure. If you don’t mind a smaller area the beach town is great. Tampa end up in Lakewood Ranch or Wesley Chapel and expect a commute. Dunedin is nice too just north of clearwater. South tampa is great but expect a price tag

monticello is very rural with lots of open pastures and beautiful old homes. like any old place in Florida there are pockets of run down buildings but for the most part Monticello is beautiful. I have a question. So I ended up in the Tampa area (Port Richey). TBH we moved to where we could find a place to rent. A lot of the locals complain about this area and say it’s terrible. I don’t think it’s that bad. I came from Spokane Washington and it’s bad there. My question is, am I blind? Is it really that bad? So far I haven’t felt unsafe. In fact the only place I have felt un safe was downtown Daytona. In a year our lease is up and we will search for a place to buy. Hubby is in love with Spring Hill but it’s not exactly what I want. I want more of a city vibe.

This was one of the most entertaining video about FLA. It counters Nick's pretty well. The unique rural problems part was hilarious. Having grown up in NC, I am all too familiar with that type of problem. Going out into the country can be a very ugly trip back in time. That's such a shame. I have lived in the country a couple of times. There are a lot of honest hard working people there. Too bad some of them are still fighting the Civil War.
