Odin killed Lokis children if one of him, by turning the youngest Vali into a wolf that ripped out the organs of his brother Narvil. Odin used Narvils organs and limbs and turned them into chains binding Loki to a rock beneath a poisonous serpent. His wife Sigyn would protect him mostly form this poison until Ragnarok. Before hand Thor helped Odin in prison and torture Lokis Bastard children. Ragnarok was Lokis revenge for murdering his children. Next time you don't want your home realm destroyed don't murder and torture your brothers children.

Yes, in the original norse legends pretty much all the gods were major dicks, especially Odin, Thor and Loki. Their Marvel comics and movieverse versions are different. Comic/movie Thor is more noble and heroic, though Odin is still pretty much a dick, while Loki has gotten complicated, especially in the latest comics. Originally motivated by rivalry with and then downright hatred for Thor as the 'favorite son', Loki in the later comics got tired of being 'typecast' so to speak, as the God of Evil. Hence his sacrifice at Siege and rebirth into an innocent boy. From there, things got even more complicated, since the ghost of his old self came back with him and started scheming to take control of his body...

All the preceding tales I just stated & many more are also found within Norse Mythology.

Mythological Loki once convinced Thor that he had given birth to a god-squirrel (it's a long and needlessly complicated story, because, of course). He was also almost entirely responsible for the Ring Cycle (due to his "bungling" of the contract with the giants). Also, all of the major players on the destruction side of Ragnarok are his children (and some of their origins are insane).
