In most cases highschool sweethearts just married too young. You change so much through your 20ies, by the time your thirty your a massively different person. Most people just don't grow together and instead grow apart. Plus... people start to wander if they are missing out, women start wandering about other guys and guys start wandering about other girls. The reason so many marriages fail is just the vast majority marry too early, its a throwback to the ye old days when no sex before marriage wasn't a big deal. In medieval times a girl who wasn't married by 18 was considered either ugly or from a bad family. A lot of modern Christians tote that whole no sex before marriage thing but in reality it wasn't a chore back then. The first person you dated, the families got together and got their kids married straight away. People didn't live that long back then.

I think most of these cases are not 'leaving because they got famous' but because they live an insane life with a career choice that is hard to understand for outsiders. They get paid mainly to be in pain and be in a different city every night for most of the year. If you don't work, live and breath wrestling you can't understand what they are going through. Most of the times it is not only easier, but also better for your mental health to have a partner who can actually understand what you are going through because they are in the same line of work. You see the same tendency in other jobs that are hard on mental health. Most teachers eventually end up with other teachers and most doctors also end up with other healthcare professionals. It can be very hard for a marriage that is based on "school-love" to understand what the other person is going through in their job, when they have different professions. If that is true for 8 hour workdays, it is only more true for jobs where the partners don't see each other for months on end. I work in the same field as my partner, even at the same company, but our jobs differ slightly, and even we sometimes have problems to understand exactly what the other person is going through. And about shawn michaels... he is litteraly called the heartbreak kid. What did you expect?
