July 2nd 2020 marks 10 years Asamoah Gyan missed the penalty shootout at the Ghana-Uruguay match at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. "It still haunts me. Sometimes I feel like the world should go back again so I can redeem myself” - Asamoah Gyan speaking to Pulse Ghana.
To his credit, Gyan holds numerous other records that many can only dream of, but he’s also a man who personifies the Black Stars’ recent status as nearly-men, and his costly penalty miss against Uruguay during the quarter-final of the 2010 World Cup readily comes to mind.

Well, it was not a robbery. Suarez took a logical decision. It was the very last minute of extra time. A certain goal against you vs you having a player sent off when it wouldn't matter in that match. He sacrificed his presence in a world cup semifinal so that Uruguay have a chance to go there and they took it.
@briantravelman
@briantravelman 3 жыл бұрын
@@sergiu2325 Yeah, exactly! Strategically it was a smart decision. He doesn't knock it out, his team is out. He knocks it, there's a 50/50 chance that Ghana will miss the penalty, which they did. They weren't robbed of anything. Everything was handled in accordance with the rules. That Gyan has a poor aim isn't Suarez's fault.

@@agnikaineverdies7646 It was ghana's fault to miss the penalty. Referee did the right thing. Suarez was dirty, but he did the right thing to save his country. He shouldn't have behaved like that. But at the end it was Ghana's fault.

The free kick that lead to the goal was a dive from a Ghana player, and 2 of them were offside. Ghana couldn't win even with referee's help lmao
