I found your channel a few years ago through looking up videos of people visiting Monks House. Virginia Woolf is my favourite author and The Waves is my favourite book. I first read all of VW's books about 20 years ago. I've re-read many of her books over the years, but there are a few that I hadn't touched since my first read through of them. So this year I re-read them all in chronological order of publication, because when I first read them, I read them in random order.

The walkabout videos are my favourites, Claire, partly because I walk around my city taking photos of the life I see, right now, the 'new', the buildings, cafe furniture on the pavements, book displays in shops. Really, for anyone not young in this city there's a certain amount of grief for the impoverishment of culture as bookshops close, close, close. I remember as I pass the places where fast food shops have replaced another bookshop, the rare and well-stocked mind and shelves of the owners who introduced me to unusual but available books you just don't see in W****es or anywhere else. So for me there's an element of the demise of a particular culture, celebrated secondhand bookshops such as 'Rare and Racy', new esoteric and other books from 'Applebaum', book shops from twenty years ago or more that disappeared in a moment. How I wish now I had thought to capture something of those times when it was all happening and alive.Your videos freeze these moments of time, 'moments of being' even, in a way that the passing of time will make really precious. Thank you so much for this.
