I never really had much interest in House of Hollow until now! But I enjoyed WMtD as well and read Mexican Gothic shortly after and gave it 5 stars. The main character is my favorite of the year so far. I think you'll absolutely love it 🍄🍄

For a book about the darker side of fairytales I highly recommend The Book of Lost Things if you haven't read or heard about it, it's brutal and such a fun time!

House of Hollow, I just finished it and I loved i! I wonder if you would enjoy The Depths by Nicole Lesperance? I really enjoyed it but I read it in the beginning of October and this one is more of Spooky Summer Read cause it takes place on an island. It was a nice surprise and has become another fav. There are Victorian Ghost and a violent island.

I pretty much read What Moves the Dead as soon as it came out, I saw that hardback cover and I knew I needed it. Ngl, the pronouns confused me at first, but as soon as the discussion about gender happend it clicked and it was fine. House of Hollow was already on my tbr too, but you've definitely just bumped it up. I may have just gotten the audiobook (already had the ebook), since I've very much been in a knitting and audiobook kind of mood lately.

When you get the chance again to go to London go to Highgate Cemetery and check out the catacombs and some of the famous graves out there. It is an amazing place to walk around and see. Plus there are legends of the Highgate Vampire

If you like slightly weird books with rot as a theme, try Paradise Rot (Perlebryggeriet) by Jenny Hval. I didn’t enjoy it as much as Mexican Gothic and The House of Hollow, but it has some of the same vibes.

House of Hollow wasn't a five-star for me, but I still love it. What Moves the Dead is on my tbr and I am expecting to love it. I too love earthly gothic, and yes it is frustrating to find. I actually recently added a green horror section to my bookshelf and it isn't very big. One of the books I do have in that section is Evil Roots: Killer Tales of the Botanical Gothic. It is an anthology about killer plants. There is actually a lot in that series and there may be more earthly gothic books. It is worth having a scroll.

It's not crazy action packed but it's definitely haunting! The true realization of whats going on, is chilling. Be interesting to see what you think!
