His biggest asset is he really knows how to drive and he knows how things work, he has no special equipment, it's not necessary when you know what the heck you are doing. Lot's of respect. Yes, the kinetic rope is his main "go to" tool, but they are readily available and not real expensive. This man knows how to drive off road, period.

If you watch enough, you’ll see that the banana is highly modified, with suspension upgrades and a purpose built stroker motor (upgraded from 4.0 to 4.6). So yes, Matt knows what he is doing off-road, but he has purpose built tools as well, as one would expect. The ability to modify the Cherokee platform and run it hard at a relatively reasonable cost is what makes is so attractive.

Finesse not FORCE! Matt you and your crew continue to amaze me. While in the Army in the desert when my units 5ton truck and generator trailer got stuck, I'd disconnect the truck and back in at an angle. Pulling the truck trailer away from the trucks rut always seemed to work. Having the truck out of the holes the driver made also aided in getting moving. I'm a grunt so I could walk away from any vehicle, but when it's your own support people, I had to help. You all are in my prayers. Watching you let a vehicle recover itself was a joy! Hoka Hey

it never ceases to amaze me at what you can do with an XJ, this last winter we had a hard freeze and heavy snowfall in oklahoma and i flat towed my roommates F350 to the diesel shop roughly a quarter mile from the house because his fuel tank jelled (-20 for the lows overnight and his fuel was treated, but not for the temps we got vs what was predicted), behind my '91 XJ, the rocks to control steering were a surprise and i noticed BSF mentioned the ratchet strap method, I've done that one time before and it works really well

Seems like it might be handy to have one of those hand truck things with a set of little wheels for moving around trailers custom made and reinforced, so if you got a stuck trailer that's unhooked you could just lock it into the ball hitch, attach a reinforcement bar to the trailer tongue with a simple clamp or u-bolt, lift the jack up to put the weight on the hand truck thing, and hook the recovery rope up to it. The part that hooks up to the trailer would have a simple pivot for the wheel underneath to rotate, and the wheel assembly would have a bar on the front of it for the strap. It would be steered by tracking wherever the strap is being pulled from, and that would be the limit of your control, but if you're in soft sand it'll be braking on its own and won't go cruising right into the back of the recovery vehicle. All you're really doing is supporting a castering wheel under the trailer tongue so it can roll when you give it a tow, it doesn't need to be complicated. Could be designed in a way that breaks down small for storage and adjusts for different trailer dimensions, just toss it in the back if you get a call that involves a trailer.
