Love it, i suggest hiring a video-editor to help you pump out more videos way more frequently so that your channel can grow at a much faster pace, besides this, that would make it so that you find making new videos way less tiring since you don’t need to bother with editing them, i know that’s probably the hardest part of it all.

Congratulations dear professor. My only question in regards to GreekTurkey relations is how these conflicts can be settled when one party doesn’t respect the international law and is a rogue state which wants more and more every day? How can you discuss with someone who wants to conquer your land and your islands. Really now?? This is not a GreekTurkey conflict, but if you see what is going on in Syria in Libya in Armenia in Cyprus and elsewhere, the only problem for the humanity is called Turkey
@wrenchax2 жыл бұрын
What is 12 miles? Is this according to international agreements? Yes, according to you :)) You are not an island country. You have Greek lands connected to the European mainland. This prevents you from acting like an island state. If you were a Malta, Iceland, I would say ok. Stacking heavy weapons on the islands 2-10 km away from Turkey is to provoke Turkey. The armament of the islands does not necessarily justify the Greeks by law. There is no situation that gives a definite armament authorization. Heaping heavy weapons on Alexandroupoli is provoking this Turkey. Now is there no fault of yours here? What do you intend to do with maritime trade and tourism in the face of Turkey, which is developing the domestic military industry? Is it Turkey that hinders the development of the Greek military industry? No, there is a Greek military doctrine that leans one side to the EU and the other side to the USA and France. The Greek-Turkish duo will always be like this.

As a Serb, I also find the current attitude among many people (especially the media) disturbing and damaging. It's very disappointing that the government didn't proceed with unpopular but needed actions; but I have to say that it's not entirely sure how unpopular those actions actually are, and how much it just has to do with nationalists being very loud. I must say, though, some response to this from the west has been greatly disappointing as well, especially in regards to strategically strengthening the support for increasingly-exeremist government in Priština. It's a perpetuating circle.

What extremist government in Kosovo? Albin Kurti is only seen as extreme by Serbia because he stopped them from pushing Kosovo around. At some point Serbia must realize the inability to accept the 90's was largely a result of their nationalism inability to accept the 90's was largely a result of their nationalism. Every day Serbia doesn't do so and continues to support Russia they lose respect on the world stage.

@@bilic8094 other than the tear gas example there isn’t much to back your claim. Kurti himself said that was the only way he could get attention from parliament. As for Richard Grenell, he was proven to have been paid by the Serbian government while serving his role. Many politicians in Europe had negative things to say about him as well. I’m more knowledgeable on this matter than most. In addition to all this, the honest truth is Serbia will never get Kosovo back without using force which is not an option. They have lost it after setting fire and spilling blood to it once before. It’s time to move on.

I genuinely believe one of the conditions if Ireland reunified would be NATO membership as Northern Ireland is part of NATO. As an Irish man the reason I wouldn’t vote for nato membership is the stance on the north at the moment. I personally just don’t feel comfortable going into a military alliance with the “big neighbour” considering many people have vivid and detailed stories of the Hard Border on the Island of Ireland, and I’m entitled to my opinion. However if the country reunified there will be big change in Ireland, NATO membership would be the least of our worries, and as old grudges will disappear, more cordial diplomacy will arise from that.

21:13 I believe that one of the biggest thorns in Greco-Turkish relations is the fact that, for both sides, the Lausanne Treaty was perceived as leaving certain national aspirations outside of the table, "for the sake of peace", or what the leaders at the time perceived as a temporary peace. They believed that just as the centuries before, another war would come soon to give them a chance to fulfill those aspirations, but of course, with the Second World War and the Cold War, the conflict froze. Nowadays, with shifting alliances and power balance, Turkish politicians are looking to revive nationalist aspirations of the "National Oath" borders, while Greeks very vehemently oppose the Turkish occupation of Cyprus, with Enosis (Union of Cyprus with Greece) being the ultimate goal. Additionally, the Anatolian Catastrophe (genocide of the Anatolian Greeks) has left a scar on Greek society to this day (just like post-genocide Armenia, or Jews after the Holocaust) where the majority of modern Greeks have ancestry from what is today Turkey. This has created a sort of social fear (sometimes combined with hatred) to Turkey as a state, which many believe could one day try to repeat this on Greek islands, as they've done on Northern Cyprus. In short, each country sees a historical connection with the lands that lie under the other's sovereignty, making both have a distrust of the other and consider one another hostile.

Thanks so much. I am so glad you like the new background. I spent the week decorating. :-) I just felt that it would be nice to have a bit of a change. I think it actually makes filming a little bit easier for several reasons.

Thanks. I was fond if it. But I wanted a change. The new desk feels cleaner and less cluttered. And for all sorts of technical reasons the previous set up was actually really difficult to work with for filming. The blue created all sorts of problems with colour grading. (Something that I hated because I’m colour blind!) And the bookshelves created real problems with framing shots. I understand why people want clean backgrounds now. :-)

@@JamesKerLindsay : Okay, I can understand the benefits for post-production, but I've never met or even heard of a professor who disliked having a cluttered desk. 🤨 All of mine basically used stacks of books and papers to built fortresses around their desk chairs.
