Did you not watch this video? She barely even has a roof over her head... Yet she acts so kind and friendly, even to a foreigner with whom she can hardly communicate. $100 is likely as much as, if not more than, the value of her entire stock/inventory. You also have to understand that every country has a different economy, different cost of living, different tax rates, etc. There are a lot of factors that contribute to the fact that, while $100 may not seem like much to you, it could be an entire month's wage (if not more) for somebody in another country.

No words to explain dear. Everybody is talking about him these days. Even on Dhamma discourse, our BUDDHIST MONKS are taking him as an example how we should be, and what a person he is in the earth. And we are also very happy, being Sri Lankans, that we hv given him our best hospitality. That's our culture which has been given to us by the Buddhism. We love English people so much. Very honest people very kind ones. Thank you!
@teebee19495 жыл бұрын
@@asankajayasundara6175 Sri Lanka is built on hatred after its independence from the Brits and this is mainly due to the Buddhist Sinhalese government that was formed in 1948. This newly formed government introduced the Sinhala Only Act, which meant only recognizing Sinhala as the only official language, making Sinhale people more eligible for better education and job-opportunities - and thus oppressing the Tamil community (a minority group in Sri Lanka) and the conflict between Sinhalese and Tamils began. S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike (Prime Minister between 1956-1959) he sought to resolve the conflict with Tamil political leader S. J. V. Chelvanayakam but couldn't come to agreement due to the Buddhist Sinhalese in the country protested and showed great hostility giving Tamil people rights in their own country. S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike was eventually murdered by a Buddhist monk in 1959. The Tamil minority realized that they can't co-exist among people who classed them as second-hand citizens and sought out for an independent state for Tamils in Sri Lanka. But the Buddhist Sinhalese government disregarded it, since they'd rather have blood shed than giving a piece of land to people they hate. The inevitable civil war broke out in Sri Lanka that lasted a quarter of a century. In 1983 Sinhalese mobs (Buddhist monks were among the rioters) were formed to show their hatred to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) who were fighting for an independent state. This mob ravaged city to city and slaughtered every Tamil man, woman, child and had their transportation, house or store set ablaze. No one was held accountable for their crimes even though the police watching them during the whole slaughter. (Search Black July of 1983 for more information). Even when the Tamil Tigers have declared they lost the Sinhale government continued shelling in areas located with innocent people and bombed the only hospital in the area. Tamils are banned from mourning their dead ones and several have been imprisoned because of it. (Search Mullivaikkal Remembrance Day for more information). Even today the Buddhist-Sinhalese community preach hatred. During the Islamist attack this year the Bodu Bala Sena (Buddhist political group) claimed they will start a genocide against Muslims and endorsed several anti-Muslim riots in the country. Buddha taught compassion and love, yet every bloodshed, every injustice is caused by the Buddhist Sinhalese community - why? Because Buddhism has been altered and its teaching is corrupt in Sri Lanka - it preaches violence not compassion. It teaches hate, not love. Giving a man more avocados still doesn't justify Buddhism when you're standing in a country where hatred has been its fundamentals since 1948. Remove Buddhism from the political spectrum and allow minorities in the political spectrum or Sri Lanka will remain a shithole. Nandri Vanakkam.

Major respect to you for doing these things, Harald. I've already seen this and the $400 Indian haircut. You have the spirit of a Viking explorer, but the heart of an angel. I see now why it's perhaps a little unrealistic to expect you to know enough of the local language when you have such inquisitive questions and are traveling to so many different places. You have a permanent subscriber in me.
