@@redisgonenowitsgray the 4k camera I use is too heavy to mount on my head and you wouldn’t be able to zoom in and out on the glider as I flew. Footage from head-cams always seems to be of a tiny dot flying in the sky as they use wide angle lenses. And you wouldn’t get the interesting shots with the glider appearing from behind the hill etc.

Hi ,I built the same glider from the plan I believe in the 80s 😅 and flew it at the same slope on perranporth cliffs plus in a few competitions, fantastic to see yours fly there . I had a 110 auto wind camera under one wing . I would love to get the plann and build it now with a brushless motor.
@SlopeRCGliders16 күн бұрын
We used to holiday in Cornwall back in the 80’s. My Brother and I put a 110 camera under the wing of a glider and flew it at Lantic Bay. It wasn’t an auto wind camera, so we would have to land it between every shot. Most of the pictures always came out blurry!

Very nice video with a beautiful glider and flying site. For me it's just flat land thermals. A Sagitta XC or an Aquila XL are my balsa thermal weapons! Wish I had a slope to spend some time on!

With all the kits companies that have closed, I'm concerned one day Sig will also. I know their kits have almost doubled in price due to balsa cost. Well done there, Sir.

Looks like a Spirit 100. I honestly do not know. Balsa sails are always nice and floaty. He's got a very good spot to launch from. I used to have a Paragon that I modded into a 120 and that thing would thermal so well that I would have to put her into a spin to get it down once i got so far up that I started to lose sight of it. Still have photo's of it. Thing was huge.

I am a glider pilot, but have never flown a model glider. Would you consider posting a split screen , one side showing the glider in flight and the other side the control inputs on your radio. It would be of great help, thanks, Ed Benz
@Makes-and-Mods Жыл бұрын
Hi Edwin, I've flown both, the models are extremely intuitive if you've flown full size, the only difference is the strength of feedback on the stick(s). Only a thumb or thumb and finger are needed on the remote, it feels exactly like you're actually holding the flight stick of the tiny glider. Delicate inputs. I can't recommend it highly enough - an utterly delightful way to spend an hour or two. Joe.
@redisgonenowitsgray Жыл бұрын
I agree with Joe, but also control for elevator and rudder are on the same stick in case you didn't know that, but also nearly all radios are enabled with servo rates that you can cut in half with just the flick of a switch making it even easier to control the plane, also called Dual Rates.

@SlopeRCGliders Жыл бұрын
I don’t have spoilers on any of my gliders, but where I fly you don’t really need them. Behind the slope the ground gently drops away downhill, so if you fly behind the slope face it’s really easy to loose lift.

@@SlopeRCGliders You build just ~cool stuff. This isn't needed at all, but---retracts are neat! I built one on an Aquila. I used only what I had (I was a kid with ultra limited funds at the time). The wheel was way tiny. It even had a door. I built it simply as a proof of concept rig.... & It worked GREAT! Even with the tiniest of wheels (it was a tailwheel) it worked great! So...that's my landing gear story. Now, I always have the urge to put a gear on everything I have (almost). I love retracts!

@@cluelessbeekeeping1322 that is so true. When I was growing up, my Dad had a glider with a wheel. (No idea what model it was) For some reason I always found it fascinating and would image landing it and rolling along the grass to a stop.
