the cortana skull has been explained. the skull was intended to be a black eye skull but it ended up being unused. the code for the skull indicates that it is a melee weapon and can actually spawn any weapon in the next level. the game identifies the attack type and tries to compare it with other known weapons with the same melee attack style and replaces it with that weapon. typically this will be an assault rifle but can be any weapon with a bashing melee attack such as a spartain laser and a few others.

Gotta remember the elephant cannon. Flip it upside down, set it infront of the crashed covenant ship. Cover in teleporter nodes so it can't flip. Drive vehicles in it and have someone hit flip. Launches you outside the map.

36:05 I had no idea that the dead and alive glitch from halo two still sort of works in halo three, albeit with different circumstances to activate it. If this is actually replicatable and you can do it in campaign I can only imagine the implications it would have on speedrunning (just like how it has heavily impacted halo two co-op runs)

Halo 3 was my first xbox live experience. I'd race home to drag an ethernet cable down the hall to my room because we didn't have wireless at the time. Got every achievement and forge mode was an every day thing for me. This was the golden age of halo for sure!

Holy cow I did so many of these as a kid! My parents didn't let me have internet because they were super protective, but for some reason they let me get live to play with one friend, and from there I met tons and tons of amazing people who showed me all kinds of glitches and tricks. Very, very fond memories of halo 3 matchmaking and custom games. My favorite was a mongoose map above the dark desert, where you spawned above the map in the skybox, and a giant circular road surrounded a sniper nest. The person in the middle tried to knock the mongeese (mongooses?) off the road while they tried to reach the end and teleport up to the sniper to try and userp their throne. And another favorite, someone built a house with cenent barricade doors you could melee shut. You would load up a special zombies mode where the main zombie was very slow, but very tough and they had a gravity hammer to open the doors up slowly if they made it up to the house. Game was crazy fun, you shut doors to try and keep infected out, but you'd also be locking your fellow survivors outside if they didn't make it in. Take me back, take me back!

Fun Fact: When doing the exo arm glitch (36:55), if you kill the victim, the game begins to lag and the body begins to move around like its still alive. I think someone coined it as the sleepwalking glitch, and others called it the zombie glitch.

Speaking of soft-locking the game, I did one on Gravemind in Halo 2 the other day, using the acrophobia skull. If you use it to fly over all the hover bridges when In Amber Clad shows up, you can go too fast and cause all the enemies not to spawn in after that. This includes the Arbiter's Mausoleum, which you need the enemies to show up so the last door opens up before the end of the mission. No enemies in the mausoleum, no further progression due to that trigger not being active.

aw man thought the monolith found outside the map would be on the list, some people called it the grunt triforce, some people called it a monolith, I forget which map it was, if I could find the video that I watched years ago, I could tell you which campaign mission, it was an interesting one, it certainly had a picture of a grunt in a triangle and a specific piece of music plays too, this video doesn't seem to be searchable on KZbin anymore, if I remember correctly, it has to do with the hidden music achievement on the level The Covenant but going further than the tutorials say, by going up that wall and going about some areas, you can find the picture of a grunt somewhere on a big monolith of metal type wall

There are some glitches from my childhood that I wonder if anybody else remembers: By spawning two turrets in the same place by delaying one's spawn and placing another in that same spot, two players with different helmets could occupy the same place and the helmets would combine and there was some cool combinations. There was a way to get the theater camera out of Valhalla by putting a teleporter way out of the kill barrier in forge, going there and dying, then in theater mode free camming right as the spartan died would leave the camera out of bounds and you could go into space and stuff. There was a way with a very specific setup of turrets and kill balls I think you could make clones of your spartan in forge mode. I can't remember the setup for this one at all, but the end result was a bunch of spartan models just like you standing around holding turrets. There was a way by playing around with the customization menu where you could wear security without having 1000 gamerscore. You wouldn't technically have the set unlocked but as long as you didn't take it off you could where it into public matches and stuff.

I stayed back at that room where the smear was happening while my friend got to the load point you were speaking of, I saw his point of view and everything he was doing through the door. 30:30 - It's because they modified the CORE multiplayer framework and lobby system for ALL games, and NOT just halo 2. Halo 2 was on LEGACY xbox live APIs, and halo 3 on xbox 360 ones (which also were phased out for the inferior but more secure xbox one era API). You could control the vehicles because the vehicle was marked as having an owner, and would then poll your inputs for their control. The game lost sync, and the server disagreed and thought you didn't enter the vehicle, and "forgot" to reset the vehicle control flag. So the server then tried to resolve this, by NOT having your character in the vehicle. The server would then receive an "input" that was destined for a vehicle, and allow it (as it's a valid input and the vehicle would respond). It just failed to add an extra check / correctly resolve the case of multiple bipeds / vehicles polling the same inputs. The bigger question - If a vehicle was under the influence of somebody, could somebody ELSE get into it, and what would happen in FORGE if the vehicle was destroyed / deleted.

29:08 - Nope. This has been solved. It was a duplicate of another skull. The weapon transferring over was that if you HELD the skull at the end, the starting weapon index for the next mission's "pallete" would get set to an odd value, instead of a valid value because the skull was set to an energy weapon type. When you hold weapons and go to the next mission, not ever weapon is loaded. So it'll load a "pallete" of them, and then replace any weapons the player is holding, with the first valid weapon from the pallete that matches the same "type." So if you hold the skull, and then beat the mission, the SKULL is flagged to an energy based weapon, and then the next weapon script will try to replace it (as the skull isn't a weapon in the next mission) and select a spartan laser as it's the first weapon in the pallete that matches the weapon type of the skull.

My best guess for why you guys can’t pull off getting in the exploding warthog on crows nest has to do with the frame ticker of the game. It looks like from your clips you’re running itCC, try on classic Halo 3.
