I believe the reason the West has successful democratic government is because the litracy rate is very high their. Literate public is capable of choosing right candidates who are in best interest of the country comapre to illiterate public. Which we see is dominant in third world countries. I belive the best form of government for illiterate public is dictatorship. And clear example of this is China. Also we can compare Iraq and Libya when they had dictatorship vs now.

There are many flavours of democracy just like many types of Biryani. In west democracy is very successful as citizens are more mature and responsible. Too much immaturity is present in both countries..too less education. Elected leaders in asia are less leaders and more goondas.

In west I don't know how but they are able to manage the politicians and hold them accountable specially in Europe. Gandhi was the closest totalitarian we had ..under the guise of that lungi /fasting etc he was a jiddi guy with one track mind. That did not work very well for us as even he was not able to give us a national identity devoid of religion. Maybe we are too diverse to even try..I really don't have any fresh ideas..I hope our excellent minds are able to come up with a solution..That is one thing we have in abundance in India..very very brilliant minds capable of immense jugaad and practical problem solving skills.
