Top brand chainsaws are so expensive these days so I decided to try this $100 saw with a 20 inch bar to see how it would handle cutting up some old man pine firewood.
It definitely has a few issues but gets the job done.

Good tip for cheap chainsaws - store them on the side, not upright. That way the fuel and bar oil won't leak and the carb won't flood, making it easier to start. An old logger mate told me this, I've now had my $125 el cheapo chainsaw for 12 years with no problems, and it's still working fine. I've never even taken it apart to clean, let alone do any maintenance, yet it refuses to die. That was good advice he gave me, so now I'm giving it to you.

Thanks for the review bro. I bought one just the same but blue this last week. Was not expecting much but was surprised at the throttle response and power for the money. Cheers for the air filter mod tip. Have installed a Stihl RS 72 and am blown away by the performance for the dollars. Did a mod with the demel to cut and round that pesky on/off switch to 1/4 the length and much better!

Yeah I had one of these Certa 52cc saws a few months ago. I totally agree. The on/off switch is in a terrible position, I was often accidentally shutting it off in mid use. The air filter is totally useless. The air filter cover knob is hard to properly tighten, my air filter cover kept falling off with the vibrations. My saw would never use a full tank of fuel before it would die and wouldn't start again until it had cooled down. Maybe the fuel uptake hose kept moving away from the bottom of the tank while I was sawing. Mine lasted approx 50 tank loads (maybe 25 hours) before it would never start again. Probably the carby blocked with saw dust from the inadequate air filter. But for $89AUD on special from Kogan, I'm not complaining considering the amount of tonnes of wood it cut in just 2 months! I was impressed with the bar (chain is Oregon quality). For a cheap laminated bar, it didn't once bend when getting jammed in big logs.

I bought a cheap Chinese chainsaw for my wife to prune small trees and bushes on our property in 2014, it still runs great, starts second pull, I've put a slightly longer bar on it from an old Poulan saw, I used it the other day and just out of interest checked the spark plug, it's still got the original Chinese spark plug.. not bad for 140 bucks

Thank you for the video. I've had 2 52cc saws off ebay. The first one got stolen when my house got knocked off. So I got another on ebay. Neither of mine had the issues you mention. I'm sorry you've had that trouble. I took my first one to a BBQ to show some friends who have stihl and husky saws. We fired it up etc and one said something profound. What I paid was about the cost of an annual service on a stihl so if I got a year out of it I was ahead. I got a lot more than a year and I'd bet it'd still be cutting if those lowlife scum hadn't pinched it. Some chinese stuff is rubbish, but some of it is ok. Just gotta work out which is which.

Our KZbin channel is dedicated to helping our customers get the most out of every product. i managed to pick up a shindaiwa 488 for $60. case, extra chain, and lil bottle of 2 stroke oil included. looked like new and runs like it as well. i only use amsoil saber in all my 2 strokes. youre very much correct, a cord of wood aint cheap these days. dont take much for a saw to pay for itself.

i always put ~10% of a job toward equipment/tool maintenance and replacement, so id say it needs to do 5cord to be considered paid for and during that 5 cord the 10% or 25$ isnt going to pay the splitter or what youre using to haul the wood atv or truck ect it can only go one place at a time i get stuck in that thought process alot oh yeah this tool or that trailer has done 10k worth of work it paid for itself.. but if you got 6 new tools on a job they cant all steal 100% of the job.. and itd be nice to yah know make some money too not just break even

Lets be real. I have a Husqvarna expensive chainsaw, It has the same problem with the filler cap, but its with the chain oil cap which is crap because if its not on its side I get oil everywhere. It isn't a problem with the cap itself, its a problem with the case casting. Do you expect that from a "quality" manufacturer? Worse the mount plate for the air filter connection tube has to be silastic sealed every time I service the saw because it sucks air and the tune goes out. My Stihl chainsaws have terrible carbies and are forever being hard to start as well as being pretty fragile compared to to husqvarna. My brother in law started buying chinese chainsaws for around the $150 mark and they last him about 5 years, so thats 10 chinese saws for each husqvarna, so 10 will give you 50 years, will your husqvarna last 50 years? On top of this there is a few quality chinese saws such as holzforma which are direct copies of stihl and husqvarna so you can just replaced parts directly if you dont care about knock offs

Chinese saws are MUCH better than Big Box Store brands like Poulan, Craftsman, Ryobi, Homelite, etc...because they DONT have any of that EPA regulation crap on them.....which makes them Very reliable and they Don't blow up....they also run Crazy Fat mixtures like 25:1.....so they Aren't going to be seizing Any time soon....plastics, tensioners and clutch are cheap...but that's about it. I have a couple Stihls for my main saws, and 1 Chinese 58cc for a Back-up storm saw.....I've actually started liking my clone saw the More I use it......it's NOT a Stihl or Husqvarna or Echo......but it's pretty damn impressive.....like I said, it Always starts...unlike Box Brand saws.....so that's a Huge point for the clone saw.

Well I tell you what I have been running a 14 inch bar and 20 inch bar chinese chainsaw now for 4 years and not a single problem "no leaking fuel" so they owe me nothing Infact the other day i took my so called fab Husky out and it would not start so took to me cheap as chips saw and did a days work what the hell ????? Yes the on and off button is a pain in the ass yes the exhaust burns the wood because its up front yes the chains that comes with them are shit but new chain and an oregon bar on the other and off we go !!! One cost me £119.00 the other £99.00 the top handle cost me £75.00 not sure what in dollars but still peanuts all three saws are still going strong use good 2 stroke oil "LUCAS NONE SMOKE" AND "SHELL V POWER "jungle juice as in all my saws and not a problem I can change all of them again for the price of one over priced Husk or Sthil..... The only saw I will not criticize re quality etc is the Echo they are good without doubt here in the U.K. Echo are a missed opertunity for all of us wood/grass cutters I have Echo equipment that has saved my soul re purchase and running costs they are in my humble opinion the best you can buy The macho men will probably say different but trust me they are better than all the so called brand leaders ECHO ECHO ECHO AT ALL TIMES but if you cant afford an Echo and you only cut wood sometimes dont waste your money get a chinese saw they are ok and then in a few years just throw them away NOT GOOD FOR THE PLANET BUT GOOD FOR THE POCKET Have you noticed most planet savers are wealthy or is it just me ????????????

Funny, I ordered a very similar saw from Ebay recently for $95 with a 22" chain. It said it was new, but it arrived with a fractured chain brake. I glued/taped it up, so it doesn't snap off. The throttle lock button is completely missing, but I can get around it by jamming a thin screwdriver in if I need to. The biggest problem is the chain brake's lock point seems to be past where the two handles meet, which means I need to really jerk it back several times to get it to engage. It's also very close to my hand, so it's easy to bump it and lock the chain. Not sure what can be done about that.

Sounds like a dodgy seller, Just take some photos and lodge a complaint with ebay, they are pretty good with getting a refund.

Also if you're going to buy a Chinese chainsaw you're going to want to spend more than $100 you need to do research and Order 10 at a time as a group you can pick up anyting from 72 cc's up to 105 CC's that are excellent saws for about $160 if you're buying them 10 at a time. And these you won't have to worry how about the gas leaking or oil leaking she just need to do standard maintenance at a chainsaw Pro

Don't have to tell us about its faults, just say it's Chinese-made. Sometimes they tend to make things that LOOK like they work, but actually don't. I have to say 'sometimes'.

LMFAO @ Tourettes Model, an den? The demonstration while trying to pop the air filter back on again. I bought a Yukon 20 inch 85cc chinese thing a few years ago and its been pretty good with over 100 hours on it give or take a few and I rev the ring out of it. Air filter housing needed a tidy as well and the recoil start is still great but it too leaks fuel and bar oil, my pre start run in was with a fatter mix of 2 stroke and after a few hours I tweaked the carby screws a bit to get it to rev. $125 delivered from ebay with 2 free chains of unknown origin, they were free because im pretty sure you couldnt sell them for actual money and they didnt hold an edge for long, that said when I ground off every second tooth she woke up nicely in softwood but a decent chain made a massive difference. Criticism? Its bloody heavy and I get bad noodle arms after about 30 minutes, Damping is evident but not great, It leaks fuel and bar oil so has to be stored dry. But for the money? Not bad with a proper chain and if I find something better? It'll make a great Go Kart lol

Haha yeah its not a move for the amateur. I know what I can get away with, impossible for the saw to kick back while it is that deep in the cut while the bar is angled outwards.
