Here's a tip from one of the OG 2-stroke guys. Install a engine kill button from one of the older 2-stroke bikes. When you are haulin ass and your temps are getting high, hold the throttle wide open and push the kill button for a second or 2. It'll flood the cylinder with fuel and cool it off quite a bit. Then you can stay on the gas and not have to slow down too much to cool down.

@@SQUARE1SpeedChannel Hey Ian one more question so i wanted to know what oil it was that you used for your oil change on the yfz because i guess i use the same oil that the dealership used but I watched your video on your yfz and liked what you said about the blood oil do you think that its better for the machine?

What air pressure do you normally use for desert racing?
@SQUARE1SpeedChannel3 ай бұрын
@joser02 I've started running about 8 lbs. A little stiffer, but they roll better. Even with blocks or tire spines I run about 6 lbs.

Why go with a 05 vs a 06+
@SQUARE1SpeedChannel2 ай бұрын
@loganhiler6117 Taller gearing for higher speeds, stronger transmission, oil cooler (adds a little more capacity, too). A built 05 engine provides good torque to help turn taller/heavier tires. We do run an 06+ swingarm, though. The longer wheelbase feels more stable at high speed, clears heelguards better, and doesn't buck as much over rough track.
@SQUARE1SpeedChannel2 ай бұрын
@@loganhiler6117 and the BIGGEST reason is because that was the parts we already had on hand to build a desert rig. 😆
