I mean, plenty of things got finished. If you leave cool assets or unfinished/partially implemented levels/mechanics that’ll be something obvious for others to work on. It’s just that if you don’t implement it at all so that they have to scour through the code to even know it exists than it’ll probably get overlooked. Still the hand boss and the witch got implemented despite being hidden in the code. The type of communication matters, I guess.
@CommentPositionInformer2 күн бұрын
@@christianboi7690 There is also the problem of overloading. If you come across a game with a bunch of incomplete features, and you add more incomplete features for the next person to finish, what is going to happen is that none of the features are going to be finished. A round of playtesting. If you come across unfinished features, then finishing them should be a priority before adding new things (unless you straight up don't have the skillset to finish certain things). At least, that way the game goes forward.

No one's mentioning Kyle Banks, but I think his removing and refining of some of the mechanics was as good as any of the other devs' work. For the next project, you should have a large group of devs toss them all in a discord and let them figure out the game And have a time limit for each dev After one dev has worked on the project they get kicked from the discord

All I learned from this is...don't...while some devs cared about making the game better. Some didn't have the time or effort to put something in and did incomplete ideas hoping someone would find it and finish. Others just did their own thing for several they were fun additions, others just tried to restart and "reinvent the wheel" for the game. All this shows is doing 100 devs with no communication makes a adhd fueled drug induced fever dream that is at best mediocre at worse this is like vaporware features the game. It could've been good but we'll never know. Id say if this type of thing gets made again give people a few guidelines to follow in order to actually build on the game or improve whats there. I think you could even do 100 devs again with no communication and have it where this group works on sound, this one on program and this on design etc. So when someone comes in they are set to do their thing and leave the rest alone. Specifically I think the other rule should be if you don't have time to add or implement something, you can't add it, because putting it in there and having someone else try and figure out your mess or even know its there with everything else is insane. I mean it made for an interesting experiment but its sad to see some of these games not get what they deserve when there's really fun and interesting things they have in it.

I absolutely love this and would love to be apart of something like this in the future. I love doing game jams and have been professional game dev for the past three years but I've always wanted to be apart of community project like this or something similar. Indie stuff has always been where I feel most at home but I don't really get many opportunities to do stuff like this but I hope that changes soon in the future, atleast I'll be doing my best to hopefully make that change. Anyways this project just looked absolutely amazing as a concept, terrific work to all those that worked on it! P.S Rye, I totally understand how you feel, it can feel pretty bad when you spend hours on an issue that you just really want to solve and it turns out to be a really simple problem. I've gone through it a few times (and I'm sure more times in the future) and it hurts everytime, what matters is that you succeded and achieved something that improved the project. Great work! never give up on hunting those issues, expecially thought it was cool that you didn't give up on it and solved it in the end.

Wishbone did a fantastic job Imphenzia did good with fixing the pixel art for the hand, but the low poly enemy was a shit idea Naked Dev did good with the FPS boost O and Co did the play testing... The results sheet is a form of communication with the other Devs in my opinion. Jonas Tryoller did a great job too Dogma did a fantastic job too, and I think its good that he changed the pope enemy sprite, because I don't think using Francis would be legal or taken well by a lot of people... 😅 Anyway that is all I have to say
