@@oceandeepfishing4555 thank you. Already watched it and that was great too. Add it to my to-do list. Question: What grease do you use in your grease gun?
@oceandeepfishing4555 Жыл бұрын
@John S. I use Lucas marine grease. I think it's back and available again . When I did this service I couldn't find any in stock. I used one from Walmart that was compatible but I would definitely use Lucas if you can get it.

please dont use a screwdriver on the spark plug use the gap tool to adjust gap, Great vid!!
@oceandeepfishing4555 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. I always use the gap tool to set the gap but sometimes I've had the gap closed right out of the box. The tool wouldn't open it so the use of the screw drive was needed. Thanks for your comments. Tight lines...

Don’t ever pump gear oil in with the top screw tightened. You can blow out the seals. FYI
@GmailAccount-g5x Жыл бұрын
This is a great video. What I do I give it a couple extra rapid pumps with the screw out, pop the upper screw in and then the lower. I blew out a seal one time pumping in a little extra with the top screw in. This video is super informative. I’m baffled why people pay thousands to have this stuff done. Your step by step will really help a lot of people.

You really tighten the spark plugs! I never make that tight. reccomend a torque wrench, and anti seize

Got another question for you. Do you ever spray salt away inside the engine compartment? I am finding salt inside my engine compartment and don’t want it to corrode. I sprayed the salt away on and just left it without rinsing. Do you recommend Yamaha silicone spray protectant?
@oceandeepfishing4555 Жыл бұрын
Hello John yes. I highly recommend that you use the Yamaha silicone spray but make sure you remove all the salt and rince it before you spray the silicone.

I've used this filter in the past when I had my mercury motor. I do agree that there is nothing wrong with them but because I now have a yamaha engine I just prefer to use yamaha parts. Thanks again for the comments

Why would you change the engine oil and not the filter that makes absolutely no sense to me at all
@oceandeepfishing45555 ай бұрын
@@fishydubsfishing6516 I did change the filter, but I had to take it somewhere because I couldn't get it off.
@oceandeepfishing45555 ай бұрын
@@fishydubsfishing6516 And the filter that I had to take somewhere was the water fuel separating filter. But if you rewatched the video shows your right plane as day changing the oil filter on the side of the engine.
@oceandeepfishing45555 ай бұрын
So let me explain to you and any viewers that might be reading this when I said. I didn't change the Oil filter on the oil change. That was because it was a 20 hour. Service oil change and the Yamaha maintenance manual said not to change the oil filter at this time to change it at the 100 hour oil service. And that's directly from the Yamaha maintenance. Not something I made up.
I've been a mechanic Mill right industrial maintenance all my life and I rebuilt engine's when an engine breaks in you're wearing off a lot of material as the engine seats in that's why they want you to change the oil all that material on the break in process gets trapped in the filter I don't know why Yamaha would not recommend changing the filter also if the filter gets plugged with foreign material from the break in process it will bypass and blow all that material into the new oil for people that don't understand how oil filters work these engines cost $25,000 now I would not try to save $20 on a filter
