What can $100 US dollars get you in Tokyo Japan in 2024? Is Tokyo budget friendly? You won’t believe all the amazing things 2 people can do for under $100 in JUST ONE DAY!
We start our day very budget conscious with vending machine coffee and breakfast at Family Mart Konbini. We ride the JR Line and the Subway lines with some tips on how to use your Suica card.
We visit Sunshine 60 in Ikebukuro, one of the best observation decks in Tokyo with views on My Fuji and visit the world’s largest Pokemon store and cafe!
Followed by lunch at Furya Ramen in Shibuya for some spicy tonkatsu ramen (Hakata style ramen we think is WAY better than Ichiran), a walk to the busy streets of Harajuku and our first visit to a dog cafe!
We stop by Yoyogi Park, explore the streets of Shinjuku, play Mario Cart Arcade, and end the night at an all you can drink Izakaya for MEGA highballs and karaage chicken! After almost 20,000 steps we called it a night, not quite to $100 but not a total fail, we had the most amazing day exploring Tokyo!
This is a budget friendly, exciting day that is sure to help guide you to your Perfect Day in Tokyo!

We’ve been together a long time so our fights are very short and we are able to get past things and continue having fun. As travelers we never want to inconvenience anyone so we try to be as nice as possible.

People don’t know this fact that Japan is actually so cheap. Didn’t you surprised when you traveled in Japan everything was so cheap?
@HeresGoodTravel
@HeresGoodTravel Ай бұрын
TOTALLY! We have kinda made that a focal point of our videos in the Japan series because nobody really talks about it. That’s not the reason we love Japan but it’s what held us back from visiting sooner. It can be pricy to get there but you can get a better deal on a hotel than you can anywhere in the states and food is affordable. But it’s a magical place that we hope many people get the opportunity to visit!

Why did you choose all those boring-looking places with bad scenery? I suggest you go to a more sophisticated and clean city.

We didn’t find them boring at all. We had a great experience everywhere we went. We also aren’t very sophisticated.

You can eat and drink while walking. 🙄 Do you live in Japan or travelling here? Dont take your rubbish home, find a 7/11 or Family mart and put your rubbish there its ok. The only rule is smoking. There places actually for smoking and you cant walk and smoke.
@HeresGoodTravel
@HeresGoodTravel Ай бұрын
No we just had an opportunity to spend a couple months there. We learned that you can take things to the konbinis later in our trip. The smoking boxes and areas around the cities are packed! I heard that that’s relatively a new initiative. Thanks for the tips and comment!

What a dumb rule not being able to eat and walk at the same time.

We believe that it’s in case you drop food and make a mess and that the Japanese tend to sit and enjoy their food and drinks. We just go with the flow but are usually walking eaters

Trust me you can. You just can do it indoors like in shopping malls and shops. Outside is fine. The 100% rule is smoking. There are places made for smoking.

When I shop at convenience stores and products in Japan, by law, plastic bags used to be free in the past to reduce garbage, but they charge a fee when I shop. I tell them that I don't need plastic bags or that I don't need plastic bags, and they always ask if I need them at the checkout counter.
@HeresGoodTravel
@HeresGoodTravel Ай бұрын
Thank you for the tip! We realize that they asked for bags typically we wouldn’t need them, but we didn’t realize that there was a small charge for them. That makes sense. We do something similar in our home in San Diego. Happy to help reduce waste

There is a consumption tax in Japan. Food items are taxed at 8% and others are taxed at 10%. It is written on the TAX receipt.
@HeresGoodTravel
@HeresGoodTravel Ай бұрын
Ohhh, so it’s built in. That makes sense. We noticed that some taxation was different for foreigners vs locals. We think it’s an amazing idea to tax the visitors to help the local economy when visiting. We live in a touristy city in the states and would be open to something similar.

In Japan, all purchases are subject to consumption tax, food items are subject to 8% and all other items are subject to 10% consumption tax. There are internal and external taxes. Also, if you eat at a convenience store, you will have to pay 8% consumption tax and 10% plastic bag fee if you take it out of the store. With a record yen depreciation of 155 yen to the dollar, foreigners will be able to shop cheaply, probably because Japan's national power is declining. For 30 years after the collapse of the bubble economy, Japan has suffered from a deflationary economy, a recession due to low prices, and low wages that have not risen for 30 years. It is said that Japan's lost 30 years. The average annual income of 4.5 million yen, which is half of the annual income of overseas people, is low in Japan. The national power of Japan is still shrinking. The current bad economy in Japan, Japan relying on imports, and the neglected yen depreciation are abnormal conditions. They want to raise their income without raising it, and they want to raise it because of the rise in raw materials, but they cannot sell, so they hesitate to raise their prices, and they are all in trouble because of the current yen depreciation.

Well, what a lesson. Thank you so much for leaving us this comment. It’s great to understand certain economical issues that are happening within Japan. I know we don’t have a lot of money, but we like to spend our money on local shops and hopefully stimulates some of the economy and share our adventures on KZbin, so the other people may visit and hopefully people can benefit from this.

The yen's unstoppable decline, Japan's national power is falling steadily, if the situation continues, Japan will be hammered by foreign buyers, the yen's extraordinary decline, Japan is cheap from overseas, if the yen's decline continues, it will collapse, and Japan's wages will continue to fall due to deflation and depression for 30 years after the end of the bubble economy. Wages overseas continue to rise, low wages in Japan continue to fall due to the 30 year deflationary recession, problems in Japan where technical skills are available but cannot be earned, which is strange from overseas.

Oh no! This is a difficult situation indeed. You seem to know quite a bit about it, we appreciate the education. We wish the best for the economics of Japan and its people. An incredible place that we’ve been lucky enough to visit.
