For speed to count in this game, you have to slow down from the initial launch. If the stages go fast right away, the game will think your speed is still part of the initial launch. Delay the stages by holding the down key. Also there are shortcuts for upgrading: shift buys to the max level you can afford, control sells. Also the little green up arrow next to the level of anything will upgrade it without going into the upgrade menu

For everyone who is curious, the fastest speed you can muster is El fuego (it adds to stage power) *any launcher* (sonic burst will carry this) Sonic burst X4 Fuel X3 Shield The fuel will increase the power of the sonic bursts At max +100 you will hit the distance cap in less than 2 seconds

Depends on what your looking for With 4 max level penguin balloons, you get a -200 weight With max shields and 3 balloons it's possible to get -30 With el feugo (15) and 3 sonic burst (4 each) you will still have 3 weight left, fir a net 0 weight, and still possibly hit the height limit

DF, 1. the spearhead has the highest max speed in the game and 2. There are shields in the game (boost) which automatically protect your trajectory from obstacles 3. You can shift click upgrades to instabuy max

Shift+click to upgrade the max amount of times btw Fun fact. The highest power launcher in the game aside from the omega coil is actually the steam launcher. The steam launcher when fired correctly is significantly more powerful than the orbital cannon.

Shift clicking maxes out an upgrade. Ctrl dragging copies an engine or a boost. The paid items, Diy rocket, big bird and shields are absolutely broken. On low levels, glider body and slingshot are super cost efficient and have good max+ upgrades. For real time speedrunning, sonic burst is best. For in game days speedrunning, rc copter into pulse jet into ram jet.

Every stage and booster has a max lift rating, if your weight is below that then you get full power but it drops if weight goes above that. Going under that weight has absolutely no impact on speed. Weight also has an effect on how well you tank hits when you're flying, heavier helps to reduce the mad spin of some hits but that can also be taken care of by adding shields. Bricks are useless other than adding weight.
