Thanks Barry. Yes. So good to ride down the back of Thirlmere again. Really nice Road. Still, despite all the forestry that has occurred.

Thanks PW. I need to drink more! I think if I do that I will be stronger for the second half and maybe then I will be ready for 3000m plus.

Saw your ride on Strava, what a lot of people might not realise is, it's not the distance or ascent which are the most impressive stat..(although both are impressive as stand alone figures) but it's the average speed. The average speed over that distance and ascent is the most impressive. It shows just how hard you worked on that ride and how well you performed. Chapeau!

Thank you Pete. Even though I was suffering towards the end I did really enjoy that ride. Most pleased capturing that first plane fly past.

Great video to watch. I love cycling around the Lake District every year. Unfortunately I’ve got atrial fibrillation for the second time in 4 yrs so sadly I cannot cycle or even go on a small walk without getting out of breath. Enjoy cycling while you can

Thanks Tom. Sorry to hear you have health issues. And yes you are bang on right, Enjoy things whilst you can as you never know. I am on a countdown to the 10 year anniversary of my heart attack, so I know all too well.

Never say yes before you’re going out mate, been there and done that and it’s very frustrating when your just hanging around for the Garmin😄 Brilliant ride Mr D. Wish I could ride 50😉
@DuncMcNutt8 ай бұрын
Thanks James. Yeah, I should know better! I said no the last few times it asked me to apply the update. You Will be able to do 50. Definitely. It’s a mindset as much as anything. I could have easily got off at 50 yesterday. Apart from I was no where near home.

As each video and rides pases you do look much like the fitter Mr McNutt so hope feeling good too

Thanks PW, Despite feeling not the best and getting cramp towards the end again, that was an enjoyable route.😀

forgotten how long and good that road is, and just the one pothole :-)

It's a great road, so nice. And away that that horrible stretch of A road on the other side of Thirlmere.

you can always blame the (your) navigation on the garmin update :-)

🤣 yes I could. Watched it back at lunch and I think now it must have been because I was trying to look at the map on my phone without putting my reading glasses on!

You can have a rear mech extension for 11-34 if you have a short cage
@DuncMcNutt8 ай бұрын
Yes, I have got one. I have a video somewhere just before I did my Everetsing attempt in 2020 when I fitted it to my TCR SL getting it ready for the attempt and a 11-34 cassette. I fitted a new R8000 mech in the end as it just worked better. I still have that mech so that is what I will fit.

Only done it once down the new surfacing, hows it going up?
@DuncMcNutt8 ай бұрын
This was only my second time going up, and yes it's easier with a tailwind for sure, and not about half way round a sportive from Lancaster. I would still say much easier going down, and it must be bliss going down on that new surface.
