@@SteveAndAlexBuild You have my utmost sympathy and admiration Steve. I'm waiting for a hip operation and it's bloody murder trying to move about sometimes - but at least I'm retired. You must be pushing through the pain barrier daily. Be careful though. Ultimately it's your body that decides enough is enough, however much we try to battle on. 🤕

Hello Steve I make no apologies but this will be quite a long comment. Firstly I have been watching your channel pretty much since you started. I have watched Steve develop into a fine young man and is fast becoming a good tradesman. I also worked with my dad off and on from school age right through until he was in his seventies. I am 66yrs now and I lost him last year. He wasn't just my trainer he was my life coach, my mentor and my best friend. I can see a similar bond developing between you and Steve. He was a Plasterer and he taught me his skills and work ethic in much the same way you are doing with Steve. What this idiot who made the negative comments does not realise is that learning a skill is not just (in your case laying one brick on top of another) but learning about the whole construction of a building from its start to the finish. The knowledge you need about all the other trades just to be able to do yours never stops surprising you and you will never know it all. You also need to be able to keep the job clean and well planned any person who actually works on the building knows the value of Alex he never really stops and I can see how much he supports you. I Hope you both have many happy years working together just like me and my dad. Cherish every moment

Hi mate. Just one thing. Over years I've noticed on tho new work dpm is lapped into dpc which is correct to Building regs . However on the existing house there is left a OPEN joint ie Dpm just turned up.. the best way is to coat the existing wall around this area with a liquid dpm say 300 to 200mmfrom house dpc. Then seal on the house dpc area with waterproof silicone. Then when concrete is poured this then presses against upturned dpm, and creates a watertight tanking seal.. this is what I would do now. After years. On my own house or others. Another way is disc cutter and insert, but this can damage existing dpc.. Anyway great workers enjoy watching

The exposed external block on the gable next to the other property, do they need weatherproofing? Have a similar situation for my own extension, wasn’t too sure if need to protect them some way, also would the new cavity need to be joined into existing ie: cut a cavity into existing walls? Thanks

I’m not sure what your problem is with Alex I’ve noticed you’ve been at him before. He’s a young lad and works dam hard. They are a brilliant father and son team a lot of people his age and older would not last an hour doing what he does. Your seeing little snippets of the day not the whole day. Very nasty and unnecessary wanting to put a young lad out of work. What a gem you are.
