When launching with 4s, you have to launch at 60% throttle, or else it WILL torque roll into the ground every time. I launch mine underhand with safe on, and I toss it into the air at about a 70 degree angle. Works beautifully every time. When landing, make sure the prop has stopped sideways, not vertically before you touch down. I have over 20 flights on this plane, and I am still on the original prop. So long as you do these two things, you can really tame this little beast!!
@IJustGotHere4 жыл бұрын
Don't worry about the prop! I have an extra. I should have sent it with the plane. LOL 😀👍✈

@@TheRcSaylors You tossed at too much of an up angle so stalled right out of your hand. Go back and do a slow-mo at the 5:00 min. mark and you will see it. It takes a little practice but really focus on your angle when launching. Look at something downfield and aim, like the very end of the runway. Should be VERY slightly down angle then after a second pull up to level flight then slightly above level angle flight after a couple of seconds then pull up 20-30 ft. You need to get up to speed and its going to take a few seconds to do so. I know it sound silly but I even will run three or four steps before launching to launch harder and get it to speed faster on some of my birds. Put the radio on a lanyard around your neck and it will help stabilize the radio when launching as well. Looks like a fun, cool little plane! :-)

Nate, we were having the same issues with this plane and others like it, it you look at the video again you well see the plane wants to torque roll to the left on the hand launch, its called the P- Factor, so you need to incorporate some right rudder on the takeoff just like you have to when you fly full scale but most of forget to do it on these rc planes. We ended up building a catapult launch and it works great, its really fun launching the little 50 and 64 mm edf jets from it, no more crashes on take off....
@williamhoodtn3 жыл бұрын
Sadly, I did something very similar on my maiden at launch and crashed it into the ground (on 3S, SAFE on, 100% rates, into a light wind at about half throttle) and broke a prop (I purchased two spare ones just in case). No biggie damage and I'll attempt it again soon. I think I should throw it much harder at a steeper angle (say 30°) and slightly angled to the right (I'm right handed) to help counter torque roll (?) on my next attempt. Thoughts??

When you look at your own footage you can tell that your first-hand launch was stronger and straighter. You need to throw it like a glider. I just bought the same plane and I will put on a cheap 12 by 6 prop and safe the stock prop for when I am mastering this. I was very much looking forward for you to test this because I always learn a great deal from you and your great videos. As a matter of fact before I fly a new plane I want to look at you video because you give an honest review and I can really tell what to expect. Again thank you for your great work.

I have found with the v900 on 4s is you never throw the plane straight and dead level, if you do the v900 will crash. Always use no more than 3/4 throttle and hand launch into the air at a 30 degree angle, the v900 will hang on the prop slightly without torque rolling into the ground.

Hey rc saylors love your videos. I have been having issues hand launching my v900 it allways rolls left and I only have a few flights under my wing with the v900. On the third flight my v900 rolled left hard like in your video, and crashed breaking the prop. So new prop outa the parts bag and back in the air. So previously to this all flights were launched at 45%throttle about 25 degrees up. Both over hand and underhand in safe mode allways and even with full right aileron imput the v900 still rolls left. So on the 4th flight after the broken prop incident tried 40%throttle and the plane dipped down and came very near the ground I gave a bit more throttle and pulled up flying off no problem, and no left roll just level. Soon after launch the plane lost signal quit listening went full throttle after I dropped the throttle hoping to avoid watching my plane fly off into the wild blue yonder! When the v900 went full throttle it also headed in hard. So horizon sent me another v900(very great of them) also all of my flights have been on 4s 2200mah. So now I'm trying to figure out what others are doing. Where do you think the throttle shoukd be set for launch. Also should I try half to full right rudder on launch to counter the left tourqe roll or do you think this will cause a right roll and possible stall? I dont seam to have any problems hand launching other planes and my buddy launches for me and hes a pro at it! And still left rolls. So anoying! Thanks for the videos any imput would help. Take care and happy flying.

So, we tried working with motion RC. They sent a couple planes, we shared our TRUE EXPERIENCE with them, which in my opinion wasn't bad.. They didn't like that we shared our crash, repair, and continued flight and refuse to work with us again. Motion doesn't like honesty, so be Very Careful about buying their products. Watch our review on the Flightline P51 and see what you think. Bad or fair review? Well, they didn't like it. Because we share the truth, Motion says no more! For that reason, morally we can't support them financially or give them any attention on our channel. We are so cautious with where we spend our money and who we "promote" on our channel. Regarding to the hand launching, just don't use the hand grab in the bottom. Instead, you may directly grab the neck/fuselage from the top with your whole hand. You will have a much better grab and the plane wont slide off even when it's full throttle. Switch on the safe, slightly tilt the plane up and with high throttle, you will have no problem launching it

Great video!! BTW, hand launch of powerful plane, rolling to the left is common; due to the thrust rotation power; so be ready to counter it. Also, I realized your throttle is too weak, should punch at higher throttle to let the plane fast enough to gain speed in flying into straight line (remember 4S is much more heavier, thus need more punch to gain the speed quick enough) one of the tricks to for this kind of plane is, to throw it about 60-70 degrees upwards (instead of normal 20-30 degrees), in this case, if the plane start *rolling*; it will still facing to the sky, instead of rolling towards the ground. -- wish you know what I mean.

I absolutely love your channel, practice throwing a empty soda can 6 or better feet into the wind. That should improve your hand toss skills.

Not enough umph on the 4S throw. Get or make a bungee launcher. Use PVC 1/2" pipe for the ramp and your good.
