I ordered mine a week ago and it just came in the rudder servo is acting up it works sometimes and other times it just makes a noise and doesn’t move I contacted horizon hobby about sending it back would they send me another one?

This plane is keeper. Take anywhere, fly anywhere FUN. In general the UMX EVO fly's big. The "feel" is solid and I think you will feel you are flying a much bigger plane. AS3X really helps this little guy. The flaps are effective and make landings smooth and easy. Get one and enjoy! Nate and Abby, another great video!

The UMX Turbo Timber (the old brother) is my first airplane and I can fly it just fine. However, my fellow club members get a good laugh out of windy days when I can not taxi it worth a darn. Fortunately, the UMX hand launches easily by just holding it up, with 60% power, and letting go. Landing is not a problem, as it is so light, you can STOL it to almost no forward movement. (and then, as you start to taxi, a gust of wind will blow the thing some crazy direction)

I really enjoy your aircraft videos. I am very impressed with Abby's camera techniques, always in focus and able to follow the planes. Is it possible to make a video on how this is done: camera settings, type of camera, tips and tricks, etc. I'm not trying to compete with you, I'm just an interested photographer.

Lots and lots of use with a camera for many years. Most of what she does is 100% manually done. Watching and learning through YT videos and trial and error. You probably let on to my question in the video however, thought I'd double check just to be certain. Given the fact that the Evolution has SAFE, would it be OK as a beginner plane. I prefer to get something with a decent amount of room to grow into as opposed to, say the Sport Cub S 2 or the Aero Scout? Seems the Evolution can tolerate a bit more wind than the Sport Cub (more stability?) although, I'd stay away from windy days at the onset. Thanks, Greg

If I, and possibly others, could give you a little advice before you dive in... and that would be to start with a simulator such as RealFlight. I taught myself how to fly helis and planes using RealFlight and it's a great way for even experienced flyers to hone their skills without the risk of crashing a pricey model. Good luck, and I hope you get into it! It's an awesome hobby 👍 😊

I just bought the timber x like 2 weeks ago. What's the advantage of this one? Just a tiny bit lighter? Also if you cut off that jst connector and go with xt30's you will never look back, they provide more amps and last longer.

Now they have the Fly Wing 450l Version 3 which is expected to be the best helicopter for 2023. Will you be able to do a segment on this product? I’ve flown my umx timber X on an 800!! It’s heavy but works. The tray definitely looks bigger on this one so as long as you can get the CG right, should have enough power to handle it. Landings are just a little faster

I’d say very easily yes. Especially with this little bit of climb I had going on. Plus the battery tray has ample room, when I just had that 300mah battery in there. I probably could have flown for 25 minutes on that battery though, if I were just cruising along 👍😁😎⚓️

That is a nice little airplane. I bought a Sport Cub S year-and-a-half ago and it's a fun playing but it doesn't fly well in any kind of breeze. This one seemed to be good in a breeze, is it?

I started flying with the sport cub s2 and it is a good plane but it is really easy to break and you should be prepared to have to put together the plane every time you fly it. This plane in this video is a pretty good plane but if you could spare the money I would recommend getting an rc flight simulator like real-flight and before you destroy a plane Mabey practice a little

@@RippinNy I have a sport cub, doesn’t do that well in wind. Honestly the biggest plane you can afford/have space to fly with SAFE or FMS’s Reflex is a great starter plane. The 1300mm PA-18 from FMS is a great option for a capable, fun, slow flying first plane that you can grow into.

The qualities of “as slow as possible” and “can handle some wind” are hard to put together. The planes that handle wind the best are the planes that are going the fastest. Larger, more massive planes handle wind better, and need to be going faster to account for their mass. Slower planes have larger wing profiles and are therefore more easily pushed by wind. Sport cub S2 is great for learning and flying slow, but it HATES the wind. Haven’t flown the Aeroscout but I’ve heard it’s good. My vote goes to the UMX turbo timber evo; it’s fast and very light, capable of slow flight and tricks all the while.

I have a Hobby King Bixler 3, used to have a Bixler 2. I can say just from my experience with those 2 planes, that the newer model is always better haha.

@@RobR386 by no means is my bixler 3 stock, never had any issues even though everyone else complains about them, it is my go to flyer, I fly almost daily with my Bix3. I have a D3548(something in that area, I can't remember the exact number) 1100kV with an 11inch propeller. By no means is it slow, and it can climb straight vertical at 90% throttle on a 8000mah 3s. I put 8mm bolts to hold my wing on because it can snap roll with ease.

Oh I absolutely do. It’s an entirely different feel while flying something like this. Just because it flies slower, doesn’t mean it’s less fun. I enjoy pointing the nose up, tail down, and just going nuts with it. Low and slow with rudder turns is just as much fun as cranking the EDF by at full throttle. Just different 👍😁😎⚓️

Has the wing been reinforced? I've had 3 UMX TTs, BTW I love the model, and found that the wing will flex and add, after a while, dihedral because of doing tight loops and snappy rolls. [Like that the X fixed this by having a thicker wing.] Ps. Nate, if you had any sense of humor you would have crashed the plane on Abby's 3rd or 4th question and blamed it on her for being so distracting. 😊 PPs. Creative intro.

Beautiful plane I was going to grab the timber x (umx) because I'm more of a stunt plane guy because I fly fpv quadcopters 😁 so freestyle is what I love....however I'm in an area where it's hard to fly because of faa guidelines and "karens" so with this being sub250g I can tell them all to kick rocks lol but if I were to get the umx timber x is it better than this Evo? I have several planes/ edf jets and I know I'm gonna have to register them and that's not an issue for me I already have my trust license so I feel like if I can find my absolute best umx plane that's all I would want! You might want to bring your throws down to97 or 95 to keep the servo from sticking nate.....but what is your recommended bud please help a brotha out lol🙏🏼✌🏽

Yes the Turbo Timber Evolution. It's 1.2 or so and a real beast! It's a rocket with 4s 3700 mah bats. Nothing in between the UMX and TTE

Yeah basically. I’ll be honest: I didn’t even check because literally 100% of all my UMX planes in the past have just been bind and fly, literally. I shouldn’t have been so quick to think that. ALL planes should be visually checked (control surfaces, etc..) before flying them. Even this, or RTF banggood models. Totally my fault. It just needed manually adjust to center the servo arm/ pushrod. 👍😁⚓️

i used to have pioneer. it worked really well, however no where near the performance of the turbo timber. Can’t take off off of a box or anything. However, you don’t need a transmitter for the arrows pioneer, as it comes with one. Pioneer is just a budget option of this. A huge differenence between the two is the flaps. Plays a huge role.

We do try, at times to show shots like that. However a big portion of our content has a different focus and direction. We are Very Aware that other channels exist, that do a great job at showing what the listing photos show. I guess we try not to be redundant and waste peoples time, but I can also see the appeal for certain products. On this plane in particular, I guess I thought the website (which we linked) does a more than good enough job at showing up close pictures, and I was just distracted with having Fun today, while still trying to be informative. We tried that, on Patreon (basically) as we used to randomly give away our RCs to our supporters there. However it is unlawful to do this. You really need to work on being a more objective reviewer, rather than an Eflite Fanboy. Eflite hasn't done the biggest upgrade their UMX planes need. Make them out of EPP, rather than the current EPS coffee cup foam they keep using. Also, come up with a better battery compartment design that doesn't remove half the circumference of the fuselage. The EPS and battery compartment design combine to make a very fragile plane.
