I second the comment about "tour de force". Delighted to see so many good nonfiction recommends as Booktube mostly recommends fiction. So many books that I now have on my reading list. I read "West with the night" on booktube recommend (probably yours) and it was terrific.

I’m reading these comments specifically to see if anybody else has noticed the absence of male authors on this list. I don’t see how this could have been anything but purposeful, yet I fail to find any explanation for that. Though many of these books sound extremely appealing, and the speaker is clearly erudite, I’m ultimately put off. I’ve read hundreds of good nonfiction books written by men. There really are some out there. Also, btw, Hemingway’s short stories are among the best ever written, in the opinion of many, including myself. It’s upsetting that’s all this ‘woke’ nonsense is going to deprive our children of one of our country’s greatest writers.

I have obtained an excellent copy of Edwin Way Teal's book The Golden Throng about bees. Did not know it existed. It once belonged to the Jefferson Davis Library in Jennings Louisiana. God forbid the South shall rise again. Thanks

Didn’t Ester Williams also make films? I like to add an autobiography to your list. Sylvia Beach’s Shakespeare and company. Have you read it? It’s the best autobiography I’ve read so far.

Yes, Esther Williams also made films, but I'm really writing to recommend another non-fiction book. 100 suggestions are not enough. If you liked Sylvia Beach's autobiography, you might also like Noel Riley Fitch's "Sylvia Beach and the Lost Generation: A History of Literary Paris in the Twenties and Thirties." It's really fantastic.
