That is how it should be. The freight brokers won’t disclose their fees, so there’s a hidden number there. That is the number everybody is talking about. Even so, a broker can push out over a dozen trucks a day via email or phone calls they don’t need to keepsake larger cuts than the ones running the equipment and out here in the field in the bad weather trucking it thru the all of the holidays just so everyone else can have their supplies, merchandise, essentials etc etc.

So-called "freight brokers" are allowed to skim off the top and contribute ZERO to the success of that load. They are required to have ZERO skin in the game. The average O/O is invested at around $250k to $300k. The freight brokers....an app, laptop, and a headset. That is ridiculous. Freight brokers: Steal the fuel surcharge Steal detention pay Charge for being late or apply their own penalties while pocketing the entire amount.

Not only that but drivers take all the risk, of being injured on the job or injured or death in an accident, risk of an accident resulting in criminal penalties, risk of having to pay civil penalties/sued, risk of fines and tickets or harassment by DOT and police, risk of having to pay steep repairs from accidents to others vehicles or your own. Driver makes all the sacrifices to move the load, sacrifice family time, and health in many cases. And lastly, the driver is the one DOING ALL OF THE ACTUAL WORK. All of that including the investment, in which the broker has to do NONE of, or anything equivalent to that.

Well, hopefully it leads to people keeping track of brokers. They work with off of these load boards and maybe making a separate system site list taking more than 10 or 15% of loads posted by them so that Les truckers were work with them or they’ll be pressured to take less, it will definitely take time though because I believe Broker should just have a cap amount that they should be able to take anyway

Bottom line is this I have seen more owner operators go out of business because of freight brokers then I can count. It's so bad that I have literally seen KZbin videos of freight brokers. Getting in front of a camera and bragging that they take 40% of anything under $10,000 percent of anything over $10,000. Half the time the load brokers don't even know what commodity the carrier is taking!! And you mean to tell me that is worthy of 50% of my money?? Well of course it would help to know the rate for the next 48 hours, it would give people an idea of what to ask for, for a specific lane or for the next time you deal with that same broker. It gives us more leverage, helps us make what we are supposed to make. We have the majority of the liability and deserve to make, a higher amount. Brokers taking 70 or 80 percent and leaving trucker 20 to 30 percent which all business would fail in this scenario. Truckers don’t need brokers to continue further but freight broker needs trucker to continue. Think about trucker life away from home, loosing time away from family, missing holidays and all to turn the economy. If it wasn’t for truckers, nobody else would be able to live their life the way they do. A customer was curious. He followed his freight onto the load board. It went for $650. The customer paid the broker $2,200. They say it is common for a Broker to negotiate a fuel surcharge, then pocket it. This isn't a transparency issue, it's theft. I heard a Broker say that the fuel surcharge "is in there". But of course he won't disclose the amount itemized. 48 hrs? They're probably afraid the driver won't run the load if they really knew what the broker gets. I wonder if possible to contact the customer to confirm the Brokers' information to be truthful.

that's the point right there, trust but verify, and I'm not trusting them these days when I know my load is double brokered and I'm talking to the guy that booked it showing me what he's paying for it and I was offered less than a third of that too many people dipping into the pie and taking too much when they're not doing the work

10% off the load!!! If they’re caught taking more then the penalty should be: 1st times a warning 2nd time is a 6 month suspension 3rd time is complete suspension of broker license!!! That would likely solve the problem
