Which was later then turned into a game mode where you only had rockets as the only weapon you could play. And even before quake, people were using explosives to reach plataforms back in the first doom game. The same is true about the railgun, it was such a popular weapon that it turned into a new game mode (railgun only). We are talking mid 90s (quake) vs mid 2000s (team fortress).
