I've been speaking Japanese for years and recently past the N4 test but it is amazing how many of the early beginner words you do forget when you don't use them!
@ArrowValley
@ArrowValley 5 жыл бұрын
For some words that is true like 'hello' and 'thank you' but as you learn more words and also more 'casual' words you tend to no longer use beginner ones as often as you might think. Also once you learn more verb conjuration you get used to words sounding different and you will rarely say them as a single word.

I recently went to Japan two months ago for the first time and had watched so many videos like these in preparation. Thought I had everything to a T but when it came to speaking the right Japanese words quickly in response, I completely screw up the pronunciation or draw a blank and use gestures. I felt embarrassed when a cook brought out my order and when I remembered to say thanks, I ended up saying "Itakimasu" instead of "Itadakimasu". They knew I was trying my best after laughing it off and I still ended up having a wonderful time, even with those issues. I guess it just taught me that I need to relax before speaking and to practice pronunciation aloud more often. ^_^'

Many years ago I used to watch anime in Japanese, but it was a bit like hearing morse code. Now I recognize a lot of words and am given the meanings. I don't mind the lack of romanization in the video, but appreciate the person who wrote the words in roman letters in the comments. Ideally we should become very familiar with hiragana, and not just a few of the symbols.

@@kadabra4009 its hard, but its not like 20 years. But only to read a japanese newspaper, you need to know over 9'000 LETTERS. But speaking would be better. I have 2 booksfor 6 yr olds with the alphabet. The important ones are: A I U E O. So example: Ra, Ri ,Ru, Re, Ro. You'll make it

There are so many..here are my top four. Easy language exchange-not a lot of user, but still a decent site. Conversational exchange-i came across some helpful partners there. Speaky- it is alright..i gave up on it, because there was too many ppl wanted to flirt and date. Anywho, lastly my language exchange-this site is the best there are a lot of active japanese users. The only downer is you will have to pay. 6 dollars for a month, to have a free conversation on site..just check it out. But it isnt a subscription.
