The word a means as in that context, which is a synonym of while, for example, I was reading as he came in or I slept as he was driving etc, which is a different meaning of as, but there’s also another word with the same spelling (as) that can means like, and there’s also another as that’s kinda like a synonym of since, and, the word iz means outta / out of and it can be perfectly translated to úr / ór in Norse and Icelandic, which is like a synonym of the word from, while the word shto / chto can be perfectly translated to que in Spanish and in the other Latin languages, which can be used in both ways as in Russian, though in English the word what is used for the question and the word that is used for the other use of shto / chto, and, the words vyes / vsyo / vsye etc that mean all / all of the can also perfectly be translated to todo / toda / todos / todas in Spanish, and also the use of ni is the same as in Spanish that also uses the word ni to say neither / nor, and, in some cases there are two different words that have the same spelling, like the words da (yes) and da (but) or raz (vez in Spanish / time in English) and raz (since) which are indeed two different words that ended up with the same spelling, kinda like the words that (pronoun) and that (conjunction) in English, which have the same exact spelling and pronunciation, but one of them is a demonstrative pronoun (that dude) that can also be used on its own (that or this) and one of them is probably a conjunction (I know that I have no choice) etc, and, the word o is most likely cognate with the Norse / Germanic words om / um which mean about, though it doesn’t have the m in Slavic languages, and, for me it is also easy to understand the difference between zdyes and tut because in Icelandic one can use hér and hérna for here and right here, so it’s kind of a similar thing, so, my knowing the Norse languages helps me understand a lot of the extra words and different word uses from Slavic languages, as there are many similarities between them, and, usually when I cannot translate something perfectly to English it can be translated perfectly to Icelandic or Norse or even Spanish, so knowing languages from both language families helps a lot when it comes to understanding Russian and Slovene etc, and, by the way, I can also understand the use of svoy and the other similar words that mean one’s own because I can tell that they are cognate with the Norse / Icelandic / Norwegian words like sinn / sér / sinni / sitt / sin etc and Spanish words like su / suyo etc, even though these types of reflexive pronouns are only used for the third person pronouns in these languages, while in Russian they can be used with all pronouns, I can still understand what they really are and how they work, but if I didn’t know those languages, I wouldn’t understand exactly what they really mean and they wouldn’t seem familiar, because in English there is no cognate for these types of reflexive pronouns, but most other Germanic languages and Latin languages and Slavic languages do have the cognates for these reflexive pronouns - but when it comes to pronouns, only the singular pronoun should be used when talking to one speaker only, and there should be no formality vs informality in any language, only one way of saying things to all speakers!

@@ekimovGELANN Actually it is better explained through German. U menya yest' - I could translate that as "bei mir gibt es / hat es", or "with me there is". But (limited) English doesn't really have u / bei in that sense. Now I wouldn't say "bei mir gibt es" in German. instead I'd simply say ich habe / ya imeyu. Learning Russian is much easier when you know German. You as a Russian and I as a German use very different words, but we very often use the same idioms. Like you would say something like В рамках студии, ученики нарушили... and I would say Im Rahmen der Studie entdeckten die Wissenschaftler... But you wouldn't say "in the frame of the study, scientists discovered ..". It's so much harder for me to translate from Russian to English than Russian to German.
