For Minecraft education edition, I have a story. So our school has pretty strict filters when in comes to games and stuff. They use an allow list. But someone in my class realized Minecraft ed is allowed. They went to the Microsoft store website (the application is blocked) and downloaded it. It fried our computers but we had an absolute blast. Fast forward to the end of the year, our teacher decided to have a Minecraft ed party and said she would look up how to download it for us. My favorite part of Bedrock is the Marketplace and it's unique achievements. It's just so fun to complete them. I usually use Java for a more competitive or one off experience like speedruns or to just pass the time but Bedrock is where I set my world in a more relaxing way to chill and play.

Ameteur speedrunner here (emphasis on ameteur): 1) Speedrunning on bedrock is kinda easier for beginners, but java speedruns massively benefiet from the f3 screen 2) Not every village has a stronghold, there's only a chance of it, and they are more common at certain coordinates (about 1000 blocks away from 0,0) 3) Doesn't have to be an ender pearl, any projectile can give you crit bug (snowballs, arrows, fishing rods [harder]) - Not related to speedrunning, but you can go into the game files and make your render distance higher then 76. I'm not sure if it actually shows you more then 76 chunks, but it does keep the bigger number there (only in the files, in the game it should just say 76+ chunks)

bedrock definitely has its ups and downs. it's really nice that it has all of these features in the vanilla game, but on java we can literally just download a mod that adds the same thing, but ten times better and more customizable. heck, i code mods myself. i could probably add most of these features on my own. i actually already have added some of its features. kinda sucks though that it has to all be done with non-vanilla stuff. datapacks are good but they can only go so far.

mods require a tutorial to use or download most of the time, and plus, if you use a mod that was made in the last update, there's a chance you have to troubleshoot it if the newest version changes anything major (world/structure generation, new biomes, internal code timing, etc)

(which I'm pretty sure is near impossible now) And even then most mods require a mod launcher or something specific to load And then the performance issues because Java runs like sh1t 75% of the time. Without having Java outside the launcher, it's not as simple as that. Plus the issue of finding the mods folder in the first place. If only Java players could ever admit Bedrock has an infinitely easier mod system, maybe this debate would end when that happens.

@@WLF98 1. You can get Java from the Microsoft Launcher easily. 2. The mod loaders can be installed in 2 seconds by literally looking it up. 3. Java only runs badly if you have a bad computer. And even then with performance mods your fps can go up by 100-200 frames, way above bedrock. 4. If you for some reason don't have the mods folder in the .minecraft folder, just create it yourself (you can do this for every missing folder) 5. Every mod is installed by just dragging it into the mods folder, or for resource packs, dragging it into the resource packs menu. I wish you would get an actual view of things and admit that Java is simply better. No tutorials are needed to install mods except for the first time. Even without mods Java's Vanilla is exactly the same. Plus it has way bigger servers, more customization, a super useful F3 Screen, a bigger community, and better redstone. Java is better in every way. Bedrock's exclusive features are all useless cosmetic ones that no one cares about Just admit that Java is superior to bedrock, then maybe this debate will end when that happens.

Easy crossplay and multiplayer (even inviting someone to your single player world) is a huge benefit to Bedrock. Bridging in front of you is great. And there’s little cool things like dying water in cauldrons and dying leather armor, big salmons giving you bones (plus only being different sizes on Bedrock until a recent snapshot update), leaves turning white when it snows, and sheeps having their correct color undercoat when sheared. I prefer Java but don’t have a PC and so I’m playing on my Switch currently. But because of crossplay and Realms I can easily play with my friends who play on Playstation, Switch, and PC. Java is better in a lot of areas and is the original game, again I do prefer it, but saying Bedrock has no other benefits is silly. I really think we need to end the factionism between Java and Bedrock players, because it’s all Minecraft at the end of the day. I say this as someone who prefers Java, but has played and does play many major versions (legacy console on Xbox and Switch, Java, Pocket Edition, Bedrock on iOS and Switch), and someone who doesn’t like Microsoft’s micro transactions on Bedrock or trying to push Bedrock over Java especially when you get both on PC now (there’s a website where they have a biased list of benefits tilted toward Bedrock with many supposed exclusive upsides being related to Marketplace and paid Realms). I say this as someone who agrees with all the people I see online who don’t like Microsoft’s greed and favoritism and prefer Java. But I don’t like the factionism. It’s sad to see. I wish we could just all enjoy the game together, no matter our version we play. And even if we dislike Microsoft’s greed or Mojang’s choices of what to add to the game, we could be more rational and civil about how we interact with each other as fans and the developers as fellow people. Microsoft’s greed deserves all the ire and rage that we instead turn on each other or Mojang unfairly. :/ (This isn’t just directed all at you, I’m leaving this for other people to read too).

I get the merging thing, but that's still complicated considering the diversity in Bedrock's systems (console, switch, mobile, PC, probably even a Gameboy if you try) so they would have to account the issues between devices that could not be present in other devices.

I grew up with Minecraft, specifically Minecraft Java. I remember the lag being absolutely horrendous to the point where I could barely play at times but I guess I got used to it and made me think that’s just how playing Minecraft is, but OH MY GOD I heard angels singing when I randomly decided to try out bedrock. Just a few things that I wanted to mention... Ticking area exists (it's called forceload). Speedruning really isn't faster- there are so many handy things on Java that make everything WAY faster, ask any speedrunner (although that thing about the dragon sounded noice) Andromeda bridging is techincally possible. You can do the snowballs setting on fire thing. You can easily make your own skin on java too. We have experiments. The "whatever this thing is" is a block with no texture, and it's on Java too.

A few points not germane to mods or matters of preference: -Leads on boats came to vanilla Java in 1.21, and baby salmon, dolphins, & squid in 1.21.2, as parity fixes. -Bone meal on sugar cane...ok you got me on that one lol. I had no idea that was a thing and it should exist in Java as a parity fix. -Same goes for cauldron potions, because in vanilla Java you need dragon's breath to make lingering potions in order to craft tipped arrows, or purchase them (with a random effect) from villagers, making them a late-game item. -Nether portal glitch is pretty cool, but Java edition makes up for this in part by allowing you to build above the bedrock roof so you can move long distances safely with ice paths. (Java used to have a similar glitch with End portals when you pushed yourself underneath a portal with a piston, but it's since been patched out.) -Spawning Java MC servers isn't actually that complicated, but I take your point that it requires more effort and a bit of technical knowledge than logging into a Microsoft server. It comes with a positive tradeoff of being able to use modded servers and customize the vanilla game rules and properties file.

Not sure if this was brought up by anyone yet but for reason #26 as someone who actually hosts my own java edition servers you can legit do it for free as well, sure complicated when you wanna host a "modded" java edition server hint that I say modded servers but its way easier when you wanna do a vanilla server as you don't have to troubleshoot mods when they start lagging the server or causing the server to crash or abruptly shutdown due to server errors, but for java edition servers it's actually free when using the Minecraft's official server jar files but also there's a mod called "essentials" for java edition that adds the ability to play with friends the same way in bedrock edition, but for hosting a server if you know how to port forward and if you got a good internet provider then it's completely free to make your own server no need for server hosting websites or fees or subscriptions or contracts or third-party terms of services, my conclusion: why pay for server hosting when you can just setup your own java edition server in your basement for free?

Essential is a GREAT mod! I use it all the time whenever I play Java with friends. Being able to have friends join me for free, and not needing to pay for a server, is a great relief. I believe Essential is also technically "client side," meaning that only one of you (the host) needs to install it - don't quote me on that though, as it's been a long time since first installing it, and all my friends who play Java have since installed Essential themselves, so I have no way of verifying that at this time.

bedrock maps are actually useful in the nether and basically obsolete the lodestone. you can bring an overworld map to the nether and the pointer shows your relative position in the overworld, which you can use to find your way back to your portal from anywhere, since the pointer actually works. you can also use it to decide where you're gonna portal out to, so it's a lot easier to make nether highways. it even works with explorer maps, so you can dig through the nether to get to a woodland mansion

I play both interchangeably, mostly for Seed reasons. Even on versions where you can get biomes to generate the same, the villages, sinkholes, mansions, ravines, etc, generate different. Also some Java snapshot introduce a lot of intense lag & I'll just play on Bedrock until they fix it. I also like how smooth it runs on father render distance while Java croaks on anything higher than 12. However, Bedrock does not have Buffet worlds & you need a mod to fire up old versions, & fan-made stuff for Java is free. Both are great, each has their own pros & cons.

@@-Rint3ro- most recent clip I've seen was over a year ago and the most recent random fall damage was around 3 years ago, so it was infact patched somewhere along the way. It's also just the client and server being delayed, which is in fact a phone issue, considering none of my devices have had the death or damage bug even if I try to recreate it to my best attempt. They have low end phones which tend to delay either the client or server, same goes with PCs (PCs can also be delayed, although you have to get a really really cheap one for that to happen) The only reason this bug wasn't apparent on Java is mostly because everyone who plays Java has an expensive enough PC to not have a delayed client/server. If Java were on mobile, the bug would be apparent there too, but it's not (because Java isn't on mobile). I've gotten similar bugs on Java with my PC, although they are harder to recreate for me because I'm not that good at the game (normally that would make it easier but with how precise I have to be to get it, I usually just fall normally).

I had Minecraft only on switch for the past 3 or 4 years and now that I finally got Java on my computer I can say that some of the things are better in Bedrock. Building is a lot better because of the sliding not being there when you stop moving and the bridging system makes it easier to just do straight lines and I'm also used to play with a switch controller and even if I'm getting a little bit used to play with a mouse and a keyboard I still think it's easier with the switch controller but it's maybe because right click doesn't exist on Mac. I'm not really good at PVP either so the PVP system still being the old one helps me a lot to.
