With a setup like that, I would ad a small wind turbine system to help keep energy going if it’s setup in an area where sunlight doesn’t provide enough to charge the batteries.

I'm a single mother living in CA. Been working so hard so I can retire at 50 if things keep going well for me. Bought my first condo this month and I can't be more proud than I am right now. I'm so glad I made good decisions about my finances that changed me forever.

Hey, I’m super proud of you. I wish you can take your time to give me a little guide on how to fix my finances. I’m in a mess right now and any tip from you would really go a long way.

Hey sweetie. Apparently, I used the FIRE movement to put my finances in shape. You can research more about it. Then, lnvested in stocks, crypto-currencies and real estates crowdfunding through the assistance of an lnvestment pro I was able to achieve a lot.

You might consider adding a Victron Smart Shunt or similar to get bluetooth access to your voltage input and output. I wonder if GroWatt has something that serves that function.

I got the impression from your initial videos that 20' containers were only worth the money if you had space constraints. Yet, I have been seeing you move to more 20' containers versus 40' containers. Is this due to the cost to build per sqft? A 20' container only has half the area of a 40' but the cost to buy an empty 20' is considerably more than half the cost to buy empty.

Any chance you could share the noise floor level in dB for these? Or possibly a more sound proof model? I'd love a mobile recording studio.

There is no place to hang out or is there a place to work / eat?? I really don't understand the $60 price tag??
@potatonumber200
@potatonumber200 Жыл бұрын
"...the $60 price tag"? You mean $60k for the whole thing, i assume, so i'll work off that assumption. So, first is the crate itself. Easy $8k-10k right there new in PRISTINE condition. The trailer, from the gooseneck to the wheels, is probably another $3k or so in materials. That ain't a cheap part AT ALL!! We're sitting at around $11,000-$13,000 now. Framing, plumbing, wiring, the bathroom(shower, toilet, etc.) drywall, paint, floors, trims, windows, cabinets, countertops, the fridge, the stove and oven are all a huge cost, my guess is around $18,000 more, so that brings us to about $30k-$32k now. Next is electrical. He said in the vid that the solar version is an extra $14,000, so we're at around $54k-$56k here going for the $60,000 you said. Profit: usually, places like his make only a fraction of the cost of the finished product as profit, and we can also guess(and if i'm wrong i apologise in advance) that they get bulk prices for materials. Let's now assume that that'll knock the "value" before labor and profit down to about $50,000 flat. $10,000 left, right? Let's figure here that something like this is approximately 1 Shit-Ton of work for a team of 3-5 people at any given time. They gotta be paid. Let's estimate around $5,000-$6,000 in labor. Now a small margin of profit, just around $4,000-5,000 for the company. Just enough to keep it afloat, and not enough to drive up already high prices of building materials any more and scare away any customers. As a rule of thumb, the smaller the company, the less profit they make. As such, take corner car dealerships as opposed to big certified brand dealers. One will even show you the bill from when they bought it from the last guys, the other will try and convince you to upgrade to the next highest trim package. Profits. And for the inevitable comments on "oh, i've worked _______ for 30+ years, and prices are perfectly reasonable!!! yada yada, yada!" No, not with this. Crates ALONE have quadrupled in price where i'm at down here in Dallas, Tx since we got two 40-footers 3 years ago for storage and a workshop respectively. We got each for $2,000, USED BTW, and since then, the 20-FOOTERS are up to around $6,000!!! Those were $1,200 when we got our 40's!!! The 40's are over $8k now!!!! And that's USED, IN "ACCEPTABLE" CONDITION. IMAGINE A NEW CRATE'S PRICE!!!! But yeah, things like this are really high-cost, low-profit gigs. More of a love for the project then looking to hit it rich. And I, for one, respect that!

@@potatonumber200 Wow! Such a detailed response. Yes I meant $60k. Sorry I forgot the k after $60.I understand that things like this cost money and you can see all of that. I was referring to the fact that there is no place for the people to hang -out or sit and eat other than the bed area,with the dogs,standing in the kitchen and standing or sitting in the bathroom. The little area where you walk in has no room for a couch or even a recliner. There is no wall to place these items against other than the large glass window and door. But that would be stupid to cover any part of that. Why did you not put the bed on the opposite wall? It appears that would of been better. Then if you shortened the kitchen area or made it in a small "L"that would of been great to the eye to separate it from other area making it appear bigger. Adding a fold out table from the wall and a couple of chairs before the stairs. Perhaps a fold-out bar on the stairs could maybe work. You can also store all on a wall and use it when needed. The dogs would just sleep where ever they land. If they were in crates then bring out the crates daily for them at night as opposed to a built-in area for them but not you. :)
