About the container-barn, I think that model of two containers supporting a larger roofed in area is a great way to go. And not just for the barn/shop use you have. This model gives you two highly secure areas plus a much larger free-span common area. I can see using this for a house - with the essential core area (kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms) fully protected, with the living room / dining room unconstrained by the 8' rule. Sure, if the hurricane comes, maybe the picture window and the living room furniture are damaged, but the essential equipment will be preserved and remain functional. A good compromise!

I'd forgo the full size bath for a kitchenette. Not really much of a value in my opinion

I do like it. I could put a two burner convection cook top on the fridge to make a quick meal. Could also put a few shelves above the fridge on the wall to hold a few plates and cups. Move the mini seat and put 1 sink. Instead of scaffolding bed, put a klik klak from Ikea that can double as sofa and bed.

I would of put the mini split more towards the open space, it's between a window and door where air can escape, you're also going to want it more towards the bedroom area for sleeping and lounging The bathroom cabinet door hitting the toilet I also would of put the showerhead to the far wall but it looks nice!
