@@Fiftycents50 I'm trying to recall now why I think his wife is Viet...it's been so long ago that I cannot say for sure. Maybe he stated it in the past? Or maybe I made it up. LOL! Are you sure it takes years? My brother brought his wife over pretty quickly after meeting her. And she lived in Vietnam whilst he was in the US. She flew here on her own and didn't marry him until several months after she got to the US, but that's like many years ago. Surely since he's an American and married her over there, it'd be much easier than what my brother did...I just googled. And it doesn't take years as you stated. You can do it in less than 6 months, maybe sooner in the case of Sonny.
@Fiftycents502 жыл бұрын
@@hangeroo2439 It takes quite some time. I never had to do it but my best friend married a Filipino women last year. I believe the laws changed in recent years (most likely during Trump administration).
@hangeroo24392 жыл бұрын
@@Fiftycents50 ...or it could be because she's from the Philippines. I think it's harder for Filipinos to come here as there are so many that want to come and so many already here...I could be wrong. And many of them get here via marriage, probably in way higher numbers than Vietnamese women so there may be restrictions in place. And the fact she's here illegally already, that might be the reason for the lengthy time. But I don't know for sure, just guessing.

It's funny that you said that whenever you were in Asia and someone had one of the pans with the little circles you recommended always buying their food. I actually bought 2 pans like that last year so I could make those at home. If you can't find one from Asia in the USA, you can search for a cast iron "Swedish pancake pan" and find ones that have either less shallow holes or the exact same half sphere ones, then use tapioca flour and rice flour to make all kinds of things you have seen KZbinrs eat on the street in Asia. Because they are made with tapioca or rice flour they are gluten free, unless you use something like a soy sauce that contains wheat. You should try the leaves they give you with your foods, some have strong flavors meant to go with the meat and accompany it.

That lemongrass "handle" to pull the pork/snail stuffing is GENIUS. Can you imagine putting two of that snails on a huge plate, some dressing, in a Western restaurant and charge that plate $8 ? Vietnamese just don't realize the value they get in eating their fresh and delicious food, at such a great price.
@brqxton89742 жыл бұрын

@@brqxton8974 actually in VN, a person can earn 4000 US dollars a year, but it's not true enough, because it doesn't include a lot of freelancers' income in GDP. Like my family, we do household business, and with 3 family members, me and my parents, we earn 80000 USD per year and just have to pay 10 dollars for tax, that's incredible !! So maybe GDP per person in VN is 7500 usd. The government seems to lower the gross GDP, and currency exchange rate intentionally to get privileges for exports. So it seems to be not exact to compare gdp to cost of living in VN, although it's really cheap here but the GDP maybe in a double with fully valuating

I've been gone for a little bit. Last I saw he was forced out of Vietnam and had to move back to the States. What happened? I need the deets! These types of shows were one of my favorites so I am glad to see them back. We outsiders get to see you eating interesting, weird and good food which I absolutely LOVE!

I see two ways to make this an actual challenge: either adjust the budget to match the local economy, or tackle the whole $100 budget like a competitive eater.

Sonny, I'm new to this channel, but not your other channel. I kinda tripped up to it after your what you can't eat Mexican seafood 🦞. So I subscribed and I I love it. Does your wife go out with you on all of your videos. I really enjoy this channel it's a little more more low key for me. However, in your other video channel it's more important. You're teaching all of us how the cultures of the world work. Keep up the amazing work 💯🦐🦞🦀🦑🐙🪼🪼🦪🦂🐚🐌

Vietnam seems like a nice place. Looks like people generally leave you alone and don't bother you without a reason. 04:51 it looks like it's raining but in the previous and the following shot it's completely dry.
