When I was a kid(90s) the 880 was the was king of the cheap hunting air rifle options. I could not tell you how many dove and squirrels I popped off of the power lines myself. Those guns kept poor kids fed.

A trick for getting a scope to work on plastic body guns is to go over the gun tightening any screws you find. Im not a 880 expert but i had my fair share of plastic pumpers. Sometimes i would even put a drop of glue on a screw if i found one that kept working itself out. I had a 760 that i would never let anyone els pump back in the day. Every time i had let a friend use it the scope lost zero. Had to baby that thing. But when it was working good it made up for all the hassle.

I picked up a Daisy 880 recently for $60. The scope was too much trouble so it's back in the box. I couldn't trust it to stay zeroed and it made it a major pain to load pellets. Now it has a cheap red dot and it's fine for 15 yrd back yard plinking and pest control. Something to be aware of, don't shoot BB's thru a rifled barrel if you want to ever shoot pellets. The steel BB's will ruin the rifling and your pellet accuracy. Keep up your entertaining vids.

The 880 was my first air gun. I haven't had the accuracy problem with it that you're having, maybe something to do with the manufacturing. I have a $40 scope on it and shoot the Crosman Hollow Points. I've taken more game with it than I've taken with my .22 cal. Walther Reign at no more than 25 yds. Passed around 25 yds. the grouping falls apart. Another thing I like about the 880 is you don't need a hand pump or compressor to fill it with air, a big plus in an emergency. Take it frogging when you get a chance.

The daisy 880 is a good gun in like one person said in the comments you have to shoot the gun 50 to 100 times to get the gun broken in. Also when you pump it don't let the handle slam into the gun just kind of let the tip of your finger Cushing it because the shock of the handle hitting the gun will throw your scope off. I've used a $30 22 rifle scope from Walmart and have killed many squirrels up to 20 yards and I've killed more iguanas in Florida with it than all my other air rifles. I've had good grouping with crossman hollow points, Gamo gold pellets and JSB pellets. I think it's the best air rifle you can buy for the money you pay.

You need to take the front sight off and do the electrical tape on the barrel accuracy mod. Also a good time to remove the pump arm and plunger and fill in the dimple in the piston to improve pump efficiency and be able to pump it up higher. Accuracy mod is a must do. Pump mods only gained me like 30FPS and over pumping to 15 pumps got me another 30FPS. Stock was around 650fps, pump mods at 10 pumps 680fps, over pumping to 16 pumps was like 710-720fps. The winchester 1977xs stock pushes a pellet 825fps. And it’s basically the same gun but with slight internal differences

I had a lot of air rifles as I was growing up crossman airguns, a lot of daisys, Benjamin Sheridan, but I got to say that this one was the best of them all. Some 30 yrs ago they would come with the receiver made of metal, not anymore; but very accurate! Iron sights really accurate on this 880 Powerline daisy. Coca Cola bottle caps, quarters, cigarettes, pecans, I could hit anything with it. I think that my last BB gun was a daisy red Ryder!

Bro I’ve been watching your channel the last year as I’ve been getting more and more into hunting other stuff besides dove and just wanted to say you, flair and Kendall gray are my absolute favorite channels. The access you have to go small game and bird hunting everyday is so awesome. I live in Los Angeles so you can imagine even mentioning the word hunting and people lose their minds. I mostly hunt coyotes because it’s the most accessible thing here as we have millions of acres of public land outside the city. Idk if you have coyotes in your area but would be awesome to see you take one with your .17hmr or with a pcp

The barrel is not solid to the action like a normal rifle. Each time you pump it the barrel and pump lane in a different position…hence the impact is off. The iron sights are fixed to the barrel and remain the same.

The accuracy is just fine on pretty much any of the Walmart air rifles, I experienced the same thing with a Walmart Beman break barrel,, could not get it to print with the scope, even after clamping in a lead sled.

That's because it's a break barrel and you have to hold it loosely. Strapping it into a lead sled almost ensures that you will have a terrible group. With break barrels you have to use the "artillery hold". If you are coming from the world of powder burners, you probably don't know about it because you'll rip your face off using it on something like a 30-06, and it doesn't seem to be printed on the box or anything. It's something you learn about when someone asks if you were using the "artillery hold" it seems.

Small game like squirrel or birds with a head shot will work with just .177 lead pellet or BB. No need for a 22 cal. pellet for very small game.

Use 177. Hollow slug and pump it up 25 times. Hit them in a vital spot with one and they drop instantly. The pointed crossman pellets are good but I've had some run a decent distance after a heart shot. Hollow Slugs drop them with lung shots

The daisy 880 is a very touchy air gun, I'm on my second one in a 5 year period and it's taken 75 - 100 shots to get it to settle in, I've been using a barska scope that can be baught at Walmart and it's perfect.... Very stable and worth the 39 bucks !!!!

I've got a daisy 880 that is deadly😮 out to 15 yards with bb's or pellets. Eight pumps and it is accurate as well as deadly. Put a cheap Simmons 3-9x40 on it that was part of a package deal I got on a Savage 17hmr. This combo has stopped more heartbeats than all of my centerfires combined.

When i was 4 years old i found one of these under my Christmas tree actually there was 4 of them 1 for each kid i was the youngest though. Back then iron sights was the only way they came was no scope even as a possibility stock. Would of been 1989 but we had a clothesline handing approx 25 yards from our giant porch that had seating and a banister all the way around except the house side of said porch. But as a 4 year old i use to shoot the pop can tops that u use to open said soda can off the cans. We tied them w fishing line to said cloths line at different heights from said bottle top to clothes line and i would go from 1 can to the next disconnecting every can from the pull tab that opened them up. My brothers use to think it was an accident but hell no i was doing that crap intentionally

Barra 1866 Cowboy .177 cal. has similar power around 800 fps muzzle velocity with lead pellets and 10 pumps. And it is very accurate at reasonable airgun range similar price range to the Daisy 880 but it does not have option for scope mounting open sights only. The day I bought my Barra 1866 Cowboy at Walmart it was sitting on the shelf right next to a Daisy 880 I picked the Barra strictly on looks given the specs are similar I'm a sucker for the octagon barrel shroud and replica Winchester 1866 styling. Either one will kill small animals like rabbits or squirrels at close range with good shots.

Use a gamo 4 by 32 scope the one that comes with it is just crappy and the rail mounts on that gun will not support that big scope if you want good results use the gamo scope
