Most people: "Smoke! Oh no my Amp!!!" This guy: "Looks like it's getting hot." Continues to observe smoke calmly. Lol. Cheers man. How does it sound?

It said 100 watts. I wanted to see if it could really handle 100w. But it doesn't seem to be damaged. I use it all the time. I will be changing the high caps at some point though. That's switch doesn't seem to do anything notable

Thanks for the video. Did it stop smoking eventually? I mean, I imagine there's some compounds left on the inside of the L pad during manufacture? Like mould release from when they made the plastic bits? Or does it just keep smoking like its damaging the device?

Thanks, I purchased one of these L-Pads and I had my concerns about its capability to dissipate 100watts

did you solve how to make it work with 100w amp? I dont know if there is a L pad rated for 200w, and if there is i wonder if it really works...

I have built one of these and use it extensively. However, I also added in a few more high wattage resistors to share the load of power dissipation. What is that little oscilloscope by the way? Where did you get it from?
Hi there, can you share a rough schematic of how you did this? mine is smoking. I have 8 ohm 100 watt resistors laying around . I'd like to modify it to handle the 100w load from my ampeg v4. Thanks in advance for any direction you can provide.

This. The designs I see all use a high wattage chassis mount resistor. That's probably exactly why this thing fried.

@@filmmac3 I think i referred to the Jettenuator schematic when building that one. Its also based on the concept of load sharing resistors along with the l-pad. Bear in mind, I mostly have amps from 20-50 watts. And even those i hardly ever turn up past noon even with attentuators. Trying to silence a 100W tube amp cranked at full with an attenuator is like revving a car engine at full while holding down the brakes. Something's gotta give at some point.

Hi I'm new to this iv have a 5watt and a 40 watt can anyone tell me if I can make one that works for both and is it safe please n thanks
